My Koi
My Koi Kilnworked boxcasting of my koi sculpture. I initiallyt created a circular clay model of a koi swimming through seagrass. I next fabricated a two-part rubber mold. I invested a plaster mold mixture into the negative fish part of the mold. Next I lined my casting box w/ fiber paper, glued the plaster fish down loaded the casting box w/ broken billet and fired. The piece measures 4"x4"x5/8", and weighs approx. 1.5 pounds.
