Turtle Wisdom
Turtle Wisdom I created this pate d'verre piece after reading the following:

"...Indigenous North Americans describe the world as resting on the turtle's back and refer to North America as Turtle Island. Asian myth believe turtles brought about the creation of the Universe from its parts, the shell symbolic of the heavens, the body the Earth, and its under-shell the underworld.

...there is a presence and flow of steadfast strength in (the turtle's) deliberate, steady, and thorough approach to a life of non-doing, non-reaction, acceptance, and naturalism. ...these carefree, patient, instinctual creatures honor the rhythms of life balance, demonstrate non-violent, self-defense mechanisms ...navigating one day at a time....while honoring boundaries...turtles are survivors; living so near the Earth, moving slowly, aging gracefully, symbolizing groundedness, embracing courage with faith.It is no wonder they are considered the wisest of souls in the animal kingdom, offering a potent and profound analogy for humankind on many deep levels. --Tania Marie--

This pate d'verre and cast glass piece was created using my turtle sculpture the "Wise Turtle".

The body and shell are pate d'verre created using the lost wax method of casting. Depicted on the shell are 3 spawning salmon circling through rivergrass covered spawning beds.

The Turtle body is fused to the box casting base which shows the under-shell with its calm and knowing faces.

The piece measures 4.75"x5"x2" and weighs approx. 1.5 pounds.
