Zanfirico Beads. (That's Zanfirico: Zan-fear-ah-co, kinda weird I know)

Zanfirico Beads. (That's Zanfirico: Zan-fear-ah-co, kinda weird I know)

(HaroldWilliamsCooney)
If I could master one thing in my glass life it would be the technique used to make these beads. I have begun making vessels with this technique and in all reality I have a lot of work to do. The Zanfirico beads have a solid color background and that is a trick that I have had only experimental success with in vessels. The Zanfirico beads sell slowly because of the price/time thing, but they have been widely published and people seem to be encouraging, telling me to keep working on them and my vessels with the same look. I have seen a few finished pieces strung up with Zanfirico beads and I am always impressed that somebody has spent all that time with my glass work. For me, this is the oddest part of being a lampworker; people do stuff with my stuff. They wear it, they string it, they drink out of it, or they put it on a shelf. God bless them.

Loon Series

Loon Series

(FyreBeadz)
I grew up in northern Wisconsin and had loons around for a good part of my life while I lived there. These beads remind me of them. I will continue to add to this collection.

Novembersfyre - Summer Rain Glow Gloves

(Novembersfyre)
Novembersfyre on eBay. Summer Rain Glow Globes are round beads. Lots of pure silver give these bright beads unreal shine against organic ivory accents. Drops of clear cling like rain.

Lampwork Beads by Nichole Byers

(NicholeByersGlass...)
I've been lampworking for about 2 years total now (I started 3 years ago, but twice took off for a few months when we were in the process of moving). The beads shown here are some of my favorites.

My name is Karen Higgins and I've been making Lampwork Beads for a few years now. I am also a mosaic artist and display and sell my artwork at local shows in the Orlando, Florida area. I've worked with glass for a long time now and can't see myself doing anything else. There is something about glass that has captured and held my eye forever.
Roses, Roses, Roses!!!!!!

Roses, Roses, Roses!!!!!!

(KatherineWetherin...)
My middle name is actually "Rose", and roses have always been sort of my personal theme. I am crazy about pink roses in particular but any two toned rose will do. I have a little rose garden of my own right outside my studio for inpiration!

"My Seashells"

(ArtInsomnia)
I've recently started making these seashells and I just can't stop! Actually, the first one I made quite by accident. I was super heating some ivory and intense black to gat that lace effect on a bicone and almost lost control of it. It started to drip off the mandrel, so I quickly picked up my little spatula tool and jammed it into the glass to keep it from falling onto my bench. Then when I looked at it, I thought, Hey! That looks kind of like a seashell! So I spiraled the top and popped it into the kiln. The next day I pulled out the cutest little seashell....in completely inappropriate colors. The rest, shall we say, was history....>^..^<

March was the month for experimenting with color! All my beads are made from soft glass..Moretti, Lauscha, Vetrofond, or Effrete with the colors achieved by layering transparents and opaques.

Here are some of the beads I have been working on this season. I am really having fun playing with these new shapes and styles - like the square mosaic tile beads and the textured Raku beads. Still, I try to make lots of Siberian Tiger beads for the bead shows coming up. I hope to bring all these beads to the Bead & Button Show this June in Milwaukee, WI.

Stunning Focals made with Silver Leaf/Effetre

Stunning Focals made with Silver Leaf/Effetre

(BearfootArt-Scott...)
Silver Leaf used in glass beadmaking has turned out to be my favorite material to work with. I love the beautiful colors and intense effects that can be created by using the techiniques that I have discovered by working with it and letting the process teach me. I am still learning. That is what I love about this art form, there are endless possibilities/com...
Meet my Sculptural Characters

Meet my Sculptural Characters

(BearfootArt-Scott...)
Dr. Frankenstein would be proud of the life that I believe I have been able to breath into my little characters. I don't do work like this very often, but I love to when I do. One of my Dragon's is on page 16 of Cindy Jenkins' book, Beads of Glass and another of my dragons is in Corina's Spotlight on...the Inner Child. I also do a line of small characters called "Friendies". The eyes make the piece.
Silvered Space Gems, Galaxy Beads, Raku-style, Electric Blue, Rock Candy Sets

Silvered Space Gems, Galaxy Beads, Raku-style, Electric Blue, Rock Candy Sets

(BearfootArt-Scott...)
I have developed a variety of looks with my beadmaking that I have grouped into categories based on certain characteristics. They all use silver leaf. Space Gems are Effetre Ivory and Vetrofond clear. Galaxy Beads are Effetre Ivory, Vetrofond Black, and Vetrofond Clear. Raku-style is the black and ivory without clear. Electric Blue is a certain look I get by using the tool I invented - The Electric Mandrel Spinner. I use it to get those fine lines. The blue color comes from the silver. Rock Candy beads are a mix of these that usually don't have a lot of depth and have a great color variety.
