2006 Furred Series <evolution>

2006 Furred Series <evolution>

(kcsaintjohn)
This is the new Furred series by KC Saint John. After blowing glass for over 10 years, KC believes there is too much emphisis on just glass by glass artists - so he has incorporated the <evolution> that modern glass takes in order to adapt to the constant change & conflict of our everyday.
vessels- then and now

vessels- then and now

(MeitalPlotnik)
Here are some of my vessels, from my very first and not as elaborate ones, to the newest, bigger and with more intricate designs.

Upgra... from the hot head torch to the minor, in addition to getting my kiln, gave me an incredible freedom to work, because I could finally make bigger vessels, and give much more attention to their design and decoration than I could on the hot head (which is a lovely torch, but it limited me in the size of my items).

Thanks for looking!

Opal Topped vessel

(MandellaGlass)
This is my first vessel. I just started working with hollow and have really enjoyed it. I thought I would start off with something a little smaller. This piece is about 3" tall, made with North Star caramel and cherry wood. The top has a white gilson opal that blings in the sunlight. Cant wait to try my next one. Wish me luck!

I work mostly in glass beads, but that's where the money is for me...someday hope to be able to be totally free to just explore glass art.
...when I find a job ha!

Self taught by winging it, no "set style", I go from organic, to florals, to being inspired by artifacts.

I'll add more here after I figure out how things work a bit more.

One of my career achievements- this piece was extremely hard for me to make. It's fifteen pieces of glass put together. Sectioning from the top going down we have silver fumed honeycomb, outside clear and silver dots, two inside out reverse axis montages, another inside out silver fume honeycomb, four reversal pieces put together to make one reversal montage, before ending it with a full body wrap and rake reversal base. This piece was given to my family as a gift and sits safe at Mom's house. This means a lot to me to be able to show this. I'm super stoked. I want to thank all the companies who made it happen- Carlisle Co. for their awesome torches, Glass Alchemy and Northstar for their awesome color, and all the suppliers who give me tools for myself and my peers to express oursleves.
Thank you for your time.
