BERANEK GLASS is tellingly described as, "untrammeled exuberance that is almost baroque". Established in the 1930s by Emanuel Beranek, the studios of Beranek Glassworks in Skrdlovice today produces perhaps the finest and most artistically renowned glass in the Czech Republic. The Soviet occupation and limited availability of raw materials hampered the production of glass after World War II. These harsh conditions, no doubt, put a limit on production assortment, but they also forced Emanuel Beranek to make a range of experiments. Much of the experimental output was achieved as he combined newly developed production techniques with old technologies, eventually resulting in highly original designs. Glass products made at Beranek Studios have also been considerably different from commonplace production and it is precisely this distinctive style of design that is still so characteristic of Beranek Glassworks in Skrdlovice. Every piece is, indeed, a work of art designed by the top artists in the Czech Republic.

I have fused for about twenty-five years, in varying complexities.

The vase which appears a rosy amber, is Rhubarb shift glass which is a specialty glass that glows green over one sort of light, and quite pink over another... hence the name (fused with clear and dichroic glass,) and then draped over a mold
