Dancing Light Fused Glass

Dancing Light Fused Glass

(DonnaAndJohnSarafis)
Kiln-formed, one-or-a-kind glass art by Donna Sarafis. Having painted before I was introduced to glass, it was a natural transition to the "painterly" qualities of fused glass. John and I teach classes and also create custom, tile murals for homes and businesses. Please visit our website, dancinglightfused... Thank you for looking!

Medium "Purple Window" Tray

(ThistleGlass)
This is a beautiful NEW experimental fused glass piece!
The focal purple piece is of my custom watercolor glass and has been through an intensive process and an extra firing in the kiln for this unusual look. NO two are ever the same...
"Purple Window" measures 12 x 8 inches & is for sale at http://www.yessy....

"Ocean Blue" Tray

(ThistleGlass)
Ocean Blue has the unusual effect of granular looking outlines to define the plate. The purple and amber segments of the piece are irridized to make this fused glass piece POP!
"Ocean Blue" measures approx. 15.75 x 12 inches.
For sale at http://www.yessy....

"Zig Zag" Tray

(ThistleGlass)
This tray features an orange focal zig zag topped with a strip of dicroic glass
that color shifts in different lighting.
The sparkling gems on the rest of the tray are dicroic as well.
This tray measures 14 inches by 6-1/4 inches and is for sale at http://www.Thistl...

"Sunset Window" Tray

(ThistleGlass)
I used my glass painting techniques to including faint gold accents for the focal point.
The glass has also been reverse-fired to provide a matte surface appearance which does not show fingerprints as the typical shiny surface does.
"Sunset Window" measures approx. 10 x 5.75 inches and is for sale at http://www.yessy....

I enjoy exploring the contrasts between transparent and opaque glass, often reflecting the organic nature of plant materials. I’m striving for fluidity in form, to cause uncertainty, and to encourage the desire to touch. When people look at my work, I want them to have a sense of familiarity, while at the same time seeing something they have not seen before. I enjoy making objects that people want to live with, that enhance their pleasure in their own surroundings.

The inspiration for this current cycle of work comes from aboriginal textiles around the world. I do not try to replicate ancient designs, but rather absorb and reinterpret the motifs and themes that have had meaning for humans for thousands of years.

(Junoglass)
I've lately had the luxury of experimentting with new styles and materials. In particular, I'm working on wire fused into glass and then woven with beads and wire, especially recycled telephone wire. I'm also focusing on developing and refining techniques used previously.
