Catch A Wave

Catch A Wave

(GeltDesigns)
OK, the plate does not have anything to do with the theme of this year's Burke auction. But the scholarship goal remains important. Be sure to bid up a storm on this hand made fused glass candy dish and remember a wonderful night...as the Burke community gathers together on Saturday, March 11, 2006 to raise money for scholarships and "Catch a Wave" in downtown DC.

Brooke's boro...

(EnchantedGlass)
I have always been fascinated by the symmetric complexity of nature, especially the beauty of the human figure.
I have been studying the figure in as many mediums as possible for as long as I can remember. When I finally acheived the ability to incorporate my lampworking skill and my anatomic studies, my passion was born.
I feel that I have finally found what I've been searching for in a medium...glass somehow captures the essence and grace of human form and movement. Whether abstract or accurate, simplistic or complex, the possibilities are endless.

My class with Emilio Santini

My class with Emilio Santini

(JulieLeatherbarrow)
In January of 2006, I was fortunate enough to be accepted to the Corning Studio of Glass to take a class with Emilio Santini. He is not just a fine glass artist, but a really nice guy to boot. All of the students were helpful and shared techniques. So far, it has been the best experience that I have had in seven years as a glass artist. Thanks Emilio and thanks to Corning for the opportinity!

Anakin's Glass Eye

I've been working with glass for about five years now, mostly part-time. In the last year and a half, my focus has primarily been marble making with borosilicate. Once in a while I'll mix it up with soft glass beads and jewelry, boro beads, and functional pieces. Check back often to see what's new and don't forget to visit me at www.anakinsglasse...
After My First 16 Weeks...

After My First 16 Weeks...

(RandyBarba)
After 16 weeks of consistent hot shop time in canada, a collection of pieces were assembled for a final crit. These pieces were shot, not the best of pictures, and then some were lost. Still an enjoyable collection of pieces. All in all, I would say Flemming College, located in Haliburton Ontario, provided me with a significant skills base in the short amount of time spent there.
