Glass has been toughened to safety standards.
I am a glass designer who specialise in architectural glass as well as glass for modern interiors.

Medium "Purple Window" Tray
(
ThistleGlass
)
This is a beautiful NEW experimental fused glass piece!
The focal purple piece is of my custom watercolor glass and has been through an intensive process and an extra firing in the kiln for this unusual look. NO two are ever the same...
"Purple Window" measures 12 x 8 inches & is for SALE at the UpstairsArtGallery in Healdsburg, Ca.
There is a larger version of this tray for sale at http://www.Thistl... larger piece is $178.00.
"Ocean Blue" Tray
(
ThistleGlass
)
Ocean Blue has the unusual effect of granular looking outlines to define the plate. The purple and amber segments of the piece are irridized to make this fused glass piece POP!
"Ocean Blue" measures approx. 15.75 x 12 inches.
For sale at The Upstairs Art Gallery, Healdsburg, Ca.
Connecting with Spirit
(
NudibranchArtGlass
)
There are many rituals around the world in various religions which are concerned with the spiritual properties of smoke. None more well-known internationally (mainly through old western movies) than the north american native ceremony of "smoking the peace pipe". This ritual, performed at the beginning of ceremonies, opens the participant to understanding and connectedness to Wakan Tanka. The traditional herbs can include tobacco and chanshasha.
The pipe in this group loosely emulates a north american native pipe, it has a buffalo figure on the underside, python skin, mink and magpie feathers. The buffalo is a symbol of abundance and prayer, the pipe is like a speeding arrow sending the prayer to the great spirit. The mink is for creativity and playfulness, the magpie playfulness and wisdom and the snake denotes wisdom.
The stoppered medicine bottle is in the shape of a medicine man's head. It has emu feathers symbolising strength and endurance.
A buffalo fetish accompanies this set
Soul Cleansing
(
NudibranchArtGlass
)
Incense is something which also permeates a lot of belief systems. It is used as a way of preparing sacred spaces for ritual and cleansing the soul.
Fans are used for the dispersal of the smoke. This smudging fan is 75cm tall, the whole structure is made out of glass, including fused tubes for the turkey feathers to slot into. The turkey is also known as the "eagle of sacrifice" or "give-away eagle" by native americans and it is highlighted with red pheasant feathers symbolising the sacrifice; these are held in place with Peruvian ceramic beads which we brought back with us. The handle is made to look like a jaguar jawbone. The other animals used are vintage coyote and kangaroo, emu feathers, buckskin and lizard.
With this fan is a medicine bag to hold the incense. I tried to make it look like leather, with folds to give the illusion that it is full. The design on the "bag" is a Peruvian Nazca design and shows the hummingbird, messenger to the gods. The spiral is a symbol of eternity

these are some simple examples of work I have done.I have spend the past ten years working in the furnace for a Vermont company. I have explored a bit outside of the factory. Now I am ready to commit myself more to my own path with glass. Throughout this next year I am going to push myself to see where the skills I have developed can take me. I have always loved glass. Since starting in the factory at the age of 19 I have told myself there are so many more ways to express yourself in this amazing medium. Now im 29 and ready to explore. I cant wait to see what happens.
Natural Mystic
(
NudibranchArtGlass
)
Here's one straight from the jungles from all over the world. This rattle's influences are a complete melting pot of different shamanic traditions from all over the place. The front design has echoes of shipibo-conibo geometric designs and the back is derived from an african akoko, incorporating australian native sensibilities.
The antler has a texture like deer and a shape reminiscent of gazelle.
The reclaimed furs are coyote and bobcat from north america and kangaroo. The skins are cobra and python from s/e asia.
Feathers are gold pheasant and chicken (milliners like to call this coque).
The whole thing is 40cm tall and pistachio shells make it rattle.
thanks for looking

Tribute to Dumbledore's Pensieve
(
AlicynDrew
)
12" fused glass bowl. I am a big Harry Potter fan and wanted to capture the magic of Dumbledore's Pensieve in this bowl. In the story the bowl is stone with runes carved into it, people store and retreive memories from the bowl in the form of silvery swirls. This bowl is fused glass with hand painted runes, there are silver swirls of the memories painted within. The bowl has a lot of texture tricking several people into believing it was clay, however it is all glass.
12 " glass bowl $150.00
"Sunset Window" Tray
(
ThistleGlass
)
I used my glass painting techniques to including faint gold accents for the focal point.
The glass has also been reverse-fired to provide a matte surface appearance which does not show fingerprints as the typical shiny surface does.
"Sunset Window" measures approx. 10 x 5.75 inches.
For sale at the UpstairsArtGallery, Healdsburg, Ca.

ZO GAG
Egyptian Hand Crafted Art Glass
Based in the heart of the old village of Harraneya, “le village d’artistes”; at the step of the Pyramids of Guiza, the Artist Heba Shash sits at her atelier “ZOGAG”; painting hand cut sheets of glass in the sun. With hand made moulds, prepared to receive the freshly painted glass, the stone ovens are ready to burn. The heat rises and rises… and by sunset the viscous lava has slumped and settled into the moulds. Its time to turn down the heat and allow the air bubbles, cool down at there own delight….
One week later the huge oven doors are unlocked to reveal what nature has created!
We have the pleasure to present your good self with a unique “one of a kind” piece from ZOGAG.
The Artist recommends all pieces be directed to natural or artificial lighting to expose the depth of the colors.
The name ZOGAG has been driven from the Arabic translation of “glass”.

Egyptian Hand Crafted Art Glass
