As I explore the combination of metal and glass art I feel the freedom to create larger work. This is the first piece of wall art in this collection. I intend more wall pieces as well as outdoor installations.

The Birth of the Peek-a-boo Teardrop

(TheContemporarySt...)
Behold – for you are looking at the end of a story that also holds a painful, yet beautiful secret. A story that was once lived, once kept in shame, and now revealed to the public in visual form. This is a story of “ The Birth of the Peek-a-boo Teardrop.” A teardrop that reflects the distortion of the vision of a girl I once knew very well and now want to forget.
I call this girl Gypsy, a name not by choice but because of cursed faith. A faith she resisted at first but later learned to embrace. She is not like the common gypsy that we all think – not a swindler, a cheat, nor a fraud. But yes, a Gypsy who is unheard, misplaced, misunderstood, without any form of belonging and inflamed with rejection. She speaks in a language of metaphor and drapes herself in vibrant colors and fancies, to distract us from the truth that is very much apparent. She is a great chameleon, a pretender in disguise to protect a dark side that is twisted, but yet frail. And thus, “The Gypsy Series” begins as I have be

I made these pieces because I could never afford them, and I had to test my new v-wheel.
Thank you Lino Tagliapietra for all the insperation, and to realise that glass can be a 63+ year career.

Speaking hands - Glass ASL

A great way to learn American sign language, as well as sculpting the dexterity of the human hand. We had fun spelling out words for people when they saw them.

Clear borosilicate glass.

Dream of Fantasia I & II

(LucidVisions)
Anthurium andraeanum "Fantasia", dried bamboo and autumn grass. 20" x 11"

This is when we realized that we found our system for creating anthuriums. They took a tenth the time of our first three trys and looked even better. We also enjoyed making the bamboo, as it was a filler that was untried before and it added a new emotion to our arrangements.

Thanks for looking!

Crimson Delight I & II

(LucidVisions)
Zantedeschia, llex verticillata, and autumn grass. 31" x 8"

Trying to get a bit simpler with these arrangments, we thought the burgandy color of the calla really had a nice punch with the berries.

Tropic Sunrise

(LucidVisions)
Heliconia latispatha, strelitzia reginae "Bird of Paradise", bamboo, and anthurium andraeanum.

38" x 15"

This was the ultimate arrangment with complexity of design throughout the Heliconia and the bird of paradise. Needless to say we learned more in this arrangment than all of them together. We were very excited to see this vision a reality and it was entirely made in the heat of the summer when our studio was pushing well over 100 degrees.
