Stained Glass Globes
(
lostartstainedglass
)
This big globe is eight feet tall and six feet in diameter. It required over 2000 hours in the making and includes all the correct political borders, the four winds, nautical symbols, and the griffin - the guardian of the globe. The harp stand is made of steel and tilts at the same angle as the Earth itself. The globe rotates and is lit from within.
The medium globe stands six feet tall and thirty inches in diameter. It required over 350 hours to make and includes most of the same elements as the larger globe.

Lamp Black Smoker
(
KHK
)
The lamp Black Smoker is made out of one plate of spectrum glass. This was cut into long small stripes grinded to mitre and bulid together exactly. The last picture shows the glass plate before the cut.
The beautiful agate disk shows an expressional sample, that helped me together with the "black smoked" spectrum glass disk to find the name.

Glass ornaments for end of season 2005

Somehow I always get caught without enough glass when it comes time for holiday craft fairs.. and by always I mean the past two fairs I've done. A couple of friends and myself participated in the Plowshares Peace Festival put on by the Syracuse Peace Council. I had planned to have a whole lot more leaves, once again I'll say "next year.." We didn't do really well but we did passably, and we had a lot of fun. The leaves were drawn from pressed leaves I collected this season, the snowflakes were drawn from photos of the real thing.

Leaded glass, enamel - 14 x 9" - unframed
New to the art and craft of leaded glass, this is my first art piece: itself only a "sketch" using the copper foil method. I wanted to create a prototype to evaluate any difficulties or special skills required for a final finished piece (which will be entitled 'Latrocinium Vita').
My greatest and most obvious influences are the pop art movement. My goal is to bring modern pop icons and exploit them thru 'traditional' iconography. This piece is an ecclesiastical nod to Tupac Shakur, the Patron Saint of Thug Life.

I love using glass as tile. It can transform what may normally tossed as scrap into a whole new function.

Aloha McNeil

I have made thousands and thousands of Stained Glass Windows in my lifetime. It is one of the most passionate endeavors one can come into contact with. My work is usually very detailed and tropical. I live in Hawaii and spent the early part of my career in Miami, Florida. Life would be colorless without colored glass. This whimsical illusion is fleeting and ever-changing and like life it is liquid.
