New Home and Studio

New Home and Studio

(AndrewJ.Pollack)
If we can get insurance and close, this may be the newest glass studio in New Orleans. I have already gotten some big names to commit to future classes. It is zoned for neighborhood business and already up to code for a lampworking studio. Just a little ventillation and lighting needed. Stay tuned for updates on the new home of Andrew Jackson Pollack Designs.
Mark Zirpel workshop

Mark Zirpel workshop

(MicahEvans)
This was a workshop at the University of Miami with Mark Zirpel. Mark is an artist from Seattle whos' work is very conceptualy based. This workshop had a very very strong effect on me, one of those eye openers. A lot of his work is interactive, lots of motion and sound. He even made a series of works that actually died....the piece of art had a lifespan and someday would die. Very cool stuff and a very cool guy, look him up!

the workshop pictures are of a couple projects, one was a sun dial of sorts, just a large clear ball filled with water and used like a magnifying glass and we also made LARGE "message in a bottle" bottles with copper embossed plates inside, the bottles were then dropped in the gulf stream outside the keys.

Habatat Auction

Habatat Auction

This was a fundraiser at habatat gallery to benefit the University of Miami Hot Glass program. there was a silent auction and a live auction, it was a lot of fun and the glass was top notch.

My daughter josie and I competed Aug. 26 at the flameoff in Eugene. It was pretty cool. Josie had a blast working in front of an audience.Wish I was that chill. We got to meet and kick it with a lot of amazing talent, and catch up with old friends. Was really cool to meet some of the regulars on GlassArtists too.Congratulations to all this years winners, it was a pleasure competing with you! There was some really tough competition this year, but everybody kicked ass! Thanks to Winship Designs for sponsoring Josie and to Eugene Glass School staff for their love and support!

In my “paper” sketchbook, the technical data and process picks start at the front; pictures of friends, clients, and studio visitors start in the back. As this site serves as my sketchbooks digital back up (another Katrina lesson), these pictures come from my "personal pages" at the end of my books… To those of you pictured, if you wish to have your photo and or name removed, please send me an email so I can remove it ASAP.
Warmest Regards,
Andrew Brott

Ooold School!About five years ago. I made this with no kiln, table cooled baby. I had some inspiration going, let me tell you. It survived a long time, I can't believe that it last this long. Borosilicate glass is some tough stuff. Thanks for looking.

I made these a while back when I was going Murrini crazy. But those darn things take a lot of precious color. So I only make one or two, every once in a great while for now but i do have a lot of great ideas I can't wait to try out one day.
Thank you for looking.

Trying to go as clean afternot doing them for about four years.

Tattoo!!

Tattoo!!

(BenBurton)
This is my first glass related tattoo, but definitly not the last.. I've got a few more ideas for some ink... It was done by my good friend Dodge, owner of Koi Tattoo, here in Kailua... About 16 hours went into this!!! All drawn custom for me.

It's a mythological lampworking scene inspired by Lucio Bubacco's work and the time I spent in Murano working with him.

A satyr sitting on Hawaiian heiau stone lampworking a small angel. There's a mermaid in the water pulling on the dragons whisker while it's breating fire, directing the flame. There's a tree woman representing mother nature there as well.

It's on the inside of my right arm (bicep) and Mother Nature is on the back of the arm, from the tricep to the shoulder.

Sorry bout the Armpit hair in the pics!!!!

hey! this is me. sometimes i post some things that i haven't cleaned out yet, or haven't fixed up nicely. but i get excited and have to post em. so if you see one that you like, that's kind of messy, don't worry! you'd NEVER get one in a crappy condition. i always clean them out and get em nice and shiney.
i'm actually embarking on a new artistic journey :) i have decided i'd rather live as a penniless artist then be stuck and drawn into a job that doesn't make me happy. here it goes!
