Shiny tribute

These are some pictures of my buddy Cheyenne. He died on March 18th 2007. He was a great friend and an awesome glassblower. We studied together at Mass College of Art, worked together at Diablo Glass and Metal, hung out and partied a lot together during 2002-2004. He went on to study glass in the czech republic and work at mad river glass in VT. He posted here under "shiny".

Well if feels pretty soft to me.

Glass Art Society demonstration 2005

(MatthewEskuche)
Ya'll, I'm putting up some pictures of the demonstration I did in Australia this summer at the GAS conference. It's a pretty comprehensive look at the assembly of one of my large bottles. I'm going to be teaching at several schools this summer and hope to give a demo similar to what is shown towards the end of each class. I'm hoping to draw some students through glassartists since it's the largest grouping of torchers out there. Every time I get on the site I see new folks with great potential in flameworking, and hope to spread the knowledge that was given to me through instruction in glass. I hope everyone takes a class this summer. The schedules are filled with talent from school to school. Take anybodys class before mine, but if not check out my website www.blownglass.ws. On the teaching page are all the dates for the schools that I'll be at along with links to thier sites. Check out all the schools and all the folks teaching everywhere. Friends to be made, fun to be had, don't miss out.

Article from "The Stanger":by Brendan Kiley
Hanging in the Balance
City Boots Fremont Street Artist; Some Neighbors Say Good Riddance

On the other hand, maybe not all publicity is good publicity.

Fawzi Benhariz, also known as Benny, also known as "the rock balancer," has been building intricately balanced rock sculptures in Fremont for more than two years. The City of Seattle has shut down his sidewalk sculptures in part, Benny thinks, because of a profile of him in the April issue of Seattle Metropolitan magazine. Some locals, who describe Benny as a great artist and neighborhood icon, are pissed; others, who say he's a moody public nuisance, are relieved.

Roughly two weeks after the profile was published, and two years after Benny began regularly building his rock sculptures, the city's Department of Transportation said he had tto have a Street Use permit..."
