Begun in 1957, my adventure started as an apprentice in scientific glassblowing. After college and 27 years in the food business, my adventure continues as an artistic flameworker, exploring all the new people and expressions! My central theme has always been the tree of life symbology.

This Green and cobalt bottle has a bunch of dichro and a stopper with a nude figure and stands about 23 inches tall. I had to make some matching glasses to go with it.

Zanfirico Vessels

Zanfirico Vessels

I long to understand the assembly technique used in thease vessels. I love to make this type of work, I hope to spend the rest of my life working with the ideas represented here. After six years of lampworking I know that I am only at the starting line for this kind of work. I have to sell a LOT of glass rings to have the time and materials to make pieces like this. If you have any intrest in this work, please dear God, call me and tell me so, I need the encouragement. Wile you are at it, yell at me for getting off the torch to answer the phone. I put everything I have into the work posted here. That is the funny thing with glass, effort does not count, what it looks like is what counts and I have a long way to go. I would like to thank those few people who have purchased this type of work from me: you are fullfilling a dream. Thank you for investing in my life, in a few years it will be worth it (I hope). Thank you.

Vessels are lampworked on a GTT Mirage. Each piece is designed to capture your eye in form and movement. I find the more a piece makes me smile the more popular it is to those who view it. As I expand my studio, therefore expanding my ability to create, I move away from tight technical detail into a more whimsical inspiration for design. Life is too short not to invoke lightness of heart to each piece I create.

American - Israeli colab

Ez Eddy came by and granted me with a visit, I felt very honored to meet this talented artist and wonderful person, this was the first time I saw somone working boro except for myself.
We had a great time together and I only hope next time we could spend some more...
We had very limited time so we decided to make a little colab work.
Since Ed had to leave early I had to assamble this goblet alone (never done that before...) I believe it turned out nice after all.
Thank you Ed!!!
Orr.

Liquid filled Light Sabers

Liquid filled Light Sabers

(AdamGrafuis)
I made these light sabers for my friend Alex’s son’s birthdays this weekend. Evan and Addison are the proud new owners of these light sabers. They are liquid filled and flame sealed, and these two Star Wars fanatics are going to go crazy. The bigger one is 20 inches long

(AndrewJ.Pollack)
Made Summer 2005. Two pieces on this page are still available, and they are two of Andrew's favorites. These are the Montage Sake Set and the Octopus Goblet that Andrew made last summer while assisting Brian Kerkvliet, at Penland School of Crafts. As a TA, Andrew gained invaluable experience from Brian and others. The other three pieces featured on this page were made using murinne, overlay, and graal techniques. Please enjoy.

Red Deer College 2005

(AndrewJ.Pollack)
Here are some action shots and images of some pieces made while assisting Brian Kerkvliet at Red Deer College in Alberta, Canada. I was very fortunate that Brian invited me along for this experience. It was an amazing opportunity to work and experiment and socialize in beautiful Red Deer. I flew in and out of Calgary and can't wait to go back and spend some time in this beautiful area of our neighboring country. Thanks, Brian - for being a great mentor and friend. This is the best and only way I have found to learn how to play with glass. By working and immersing yourself in a challenging environment, such as this. Thanks to the students and studio techs, as well. Everyone grew by leaps and bounds.
