A a Sciocco per L' Amore - The Artwork of Christopher Chorvat

A a Sciocco per L' Amore - The Artwork of Christopher Chorvat

(Chrisoterica)
Born in Denver, Colorado in 1973, Christopher began to study art and it’s mediums at a very young age; touring European art museums and historical glass studios. In his numerous travels, his parents recognized Christopher’s natural ability to develop an understanding of different media, as well as his affinity for blown glass. Having studied under both European and American masters of glassworking, Christopher’s artwork has influenced several artists towards the transformation of contemporary Flameworking. Christopher’s extensive knowledge of glassworking physics and form enables him to manipulate the medium with careful planning; keeping in mind a strict adherence to architecture, integrity , and aesthetic quality. By request of both private and public institutions, Christopher performs commissioned demonstrations to the public, and teaches the art form to students of all skill levels.

These are most of the pieces I made during my first session at the Sonoran Glass Institute. I have labeled them in the order that they were made-either beginning (first couple weeks), middle (middle weeks) or end (the last work I made before stopping for the summer). Thanx for looking!

Can't remember why you married him? This serving spoon will remind you of your favorite day...your wedding day...when romance was long walks and snuggling by a fire...and dreams of children did not include car pools, dirty dishes or the week before school starts...

Glass Torch... no really!

Glass Torch... no really!

(KevinNail)
Not really art... hehehe I was just really bored one day (a couple of years ago- but just got a digi cam recently) and made a little torch out of glass for fun. I only used it once (albeit somewhat haphazardly with assistance) but it worked pretty well!!! Very cool to make a functioning torch BUT- be careful if you make one!! It is BREAKABLE and having a stream of propane and oxygen spewing out next to your torch flame would be a hurtin' scene. Not to mention the possibility for it flashing back into the hoses when it breaks! Yikes! FOR REAL- SINCE I POSTED THIS SOMEONE MADE ONE OF THESE AND IT EXPLODED IN HIS HAND. BE CAREFUL IF YOU MAKE ONE!!!!!!!
