Mandrel Sculptured Roses

Mandrel Sculptured Roses

(JoeAndDonna)
My first attempt at sculptured rose beads. They are a light lavendar color, with silver and glass seed beads in shades of lavendar. Hope to make many more of these.
All Kinds Of Beads

All Kinds Of Beads

(JoeAndDonna)
I've tried to make round beads and don't get me wrong I can, but I have to work really hard to make a round one! Bicones really do have a mind of their own, they just make themselves while I hold the mandrel, or so it seems. So most of the round beads Joe makes, "He's an all a Round kind of guy." Me I make alot more bicones, "hmmmm" "Whats that say about Me I wonder!" :)

The Scene

The Scene "little Jamaica"

(ConanPhillips)
Hey there, Have you ever wondered what those little mushrooms would say if they could talk. They probably would say, "Hey buddy it's lonley in here".
So I went ahead and gave my fungi freinds something more to express. I promise you, they're not talking to me. ...........They're singing.
Love Yall,
Conan

All my beads are mandrel wound using Vitrofond and Moretti glass. Some are as large as 45mm. I like to use filigrana on the sides so that a spiral window of light occurs. I seem to get my best inspirations when in 'twilight' sleep. I experience what psychologists call "hypnogogic' imagery when in the state between being awake and asleep. Using this imagery, I can see the bead I am planning to make. I use this as an excuse to my wife so I can sleep in. --"But honey....I AM working!"

Daniels Spiders and Jellyfish and Octopus Oh My! Focal Beads

(jubilantglassworks)
A spin off of our popular sculpted art glass pendants these flattened focal beads feature a variety of detailed animal life sculpted onto the surface of the bead!

What's more to say? We all love the floral beads! In addition to these beautiful large floral focals I will also be adding some photos of our flat shaped sculptural tree beads.
Petroglyphs

Petroglyphs

(ManuelaWutschke)
Petroglyphs are for me the root of art and history. These beautiful artworks are a source of inspiration and I´ve tried to capture in my focals that stand of light and shadow to capture their beauty and using metals to get that carving character. Everytime I see pictures of Petroglyphs I try to guess what people drawing them might wanted to tell us.
High Desert Opal Inclusions

High Desert Opal Inclusions

(JonesArtGlass)
I truly believe that it takes something as fiery and billiant as an Opal to capture the spirit of new mexico. I strive to create beads that have a very natural look, truly organic. To take an actual stone and encapsulate it in molten glass helps me complete the organic cycle of boro lampwork. From stone to sand to fire back into stone. Thank you for your interest.
Dancing Starfish Beads

Dancing Starfish Beads

(ShannonHandel)
These beads are what I like to call 'Dancing Starfish Beads' because...well...... look like they're starfish...that dance. Check them out - it'll make more sense. They're sassy.
Trees

Trees

(AnnaDuhame)
I am such a great lover of trees! My maiden name, Derrough is of Gaelic orgin meaning "Black Oak". The ancient Celts had a great respect for the trees and felt them to be actual spiritual beings. Here I have tree goddesses, Norse Mythological trees (Yggdrasil), and the Celtic Tree of Life.

Never satisfied with just making beads, I am drawn to imitate nature, but with a twist: the treasures of nature can be transformed into treasures of glass, silver, metallic frits, with designs that may or may not be from nature, like calligraphy on the surfaces. And once in a while something realistic comes from this work, like the little pea-green shells with stripes on them...I saw a picture of shells like these!
Fossils

Fossils

(AnnaDuhame)
I adore fossils! I love to hunt for them, love to collect them. These beads are really cool...they have been wrapped in copper foil and then they have leaves of pure silver put on...the silver is carefully melted in and then it reacts with the copper....it looks like fossilized leaf impressions...here and there you may also see touches of amber--another fossil.
