Opal Yellow/Copper Green/Rubino

Opal Yellow/Copper Green/Rubino

(Circa1972)
My absolute favourite comfort colour combo. I'll post beads in this colour combo in this gallery. The opal yellow is such a soft, lovely base for the reactive qualities of copper green and rubino. It is an elegant result.
Focals - Volume 2

Focals - Volume 2

My original focals gallery is getting a bit full so I've opened a new one for my latest work. My style is also continually changing and evolving and doesn't seem to fit with the earlier pieces.

Monique Michele New Focals

Monique Michele New Focals " Coral Dreams"

(MoniqueMichele)
I love these!!! I have pulled some color canes and used raku and reduction colors. The effect on most of these is one of a kind since I didn't follow a recipee, I just mix what comes to me at the moment. I like the shapes, so far I try to stay away from mold shapes or standard shapes to give my beads a little character and to allow for designers to have acces to unique shapes. Some people think its a mistake or that I can't make a perfect bead, but if you look at my other work, you'll see that I can place dots perfectly and I can make a perfect shape...this irregularity is what I want at this moment. And believe me...I"M LOVING IT !!!!
Tabs- A New Direction

Tabs- A New Direction

(TracyJerrellAkhtar)
Well, recent events made me sit back and ponder my current works and how to branch off in a different direction. It was like a light bulb went off over my head as I was messing around on the torch making floral cane. Do scenic beads featuring geisha!
So I flattened my glass into a tab shape to give me a canvas and began making geisha in more of a portrait format. Here are my first attempts at this new style. Oh and yes, I still will continue to make my classic geisha beads with the smiling eyes. I just needed to step out of my comfort zone for a bit. Hope you like them.

Lapidary Beads

Lapidary Beads

(TravisMedak)
These beads are from my Lapidary Bead series. The technique for this style is featured in Cindy Jenkins book "Beads of Glass" on page 94. This technique was one of first ideas I developed using encased canes and hidden reactive colors. Thanks for looking; hope you enjoy.-Travis Medak
Silver foil heart

Silver foil heart

(BelindaTodd)
I have just went heart crazy. Seems like all I make are hearts, and more hearts. I don't use a press to shape the hearts, just a marver and kitchen knife. LOL

Just thought you might want to take a peek. Thanks for looking, Belinda

The Joy of Fish

The Joy of Fish

(LavenderCreekGlass)
Exploring the joy of fish...Cheryl Madson introduced me to the joys of fish while I was in Washington, she makes gorgeous sculptural beads, including the cutest fish I've seen! These are really fun and relaxing to make and I will be exploring the realm of fish to the fullest.
New Works!

New Works!

(PennyGentle)
In the fall of 2006 I went to Hamburg Germany to study for five days with Diana East and Dora Schubert. They taught us how to make the beautiful and mysterious floral cane murinni that I have encorporated into my latest beads. And Dora generously shared her flat lapidary machine so that we could learn to shape our beads....I love making my focals into contemporary looking discs! I learned some things about reactive glass too, as you will see in some of the hearts I am showing here. So enjoy these new works from me...about time I got new things in here!
Hearts! Hearts! Hearts!

Hearts! Hearts! Hearts!

(PennyGentle)
I am never ready for Valentine's Day, so I have decreed heart beads to be a year-round requirement for a happy life. My newest heart beads have deeply encased flowers, which explode with color when the cold-worked hearts are seen on edge. Some of the newest beads are of a more organic nature, because I used silver leaf and reactive glass for the petals, and to be honest, I was totally surprised by each bead I made. The most enjoyable and productive work comes from losing oneself in the process, trying one thing which leads to another, and suddenly there is original work, beautiful and new to the artist (of course, any artist could come up with the same alchemy...I am not taking credit for anything except the ability to let myself be free and just play!) These beads are all cold-worked on the lapidary machine, which lives in my kitchen in lieu of a microwave, toaster or dishwasher...just the basics!!
More hearts, more fun!

More hearts, more fun!

(PennyGentle)
One very organic heart didn't quite fit with the florals, so it is showing itself here. And just to stretch myself a little after so many floral beads, I made a few new beads, some colorful cold-worked discs which will make you smile!
