The Veil, with Jachim and Boaz (glass columns)

The Veil, with Jachim and Boaz (glass columns)

(RonWoodArchitectu...)
This thirty foot curtain wall presents The Veil, rent when Christ was Crucified. The ethereal three dimensional artwork was blastcarved onto four super- imposed surfaces of Starphire crystal glass, creating a kinetic experience for the viewer.
The curtain wall is supported by two I-beams clad in fluted glass with hardware of nickel chrome plated brass.

Tree Tops

This work in progrss is a layered sculpture some fifteen feet across. The artwork was taken from a large painting by artist Ron Wood, scanned and digitally manifested into huge silk screens by artist Christian Karl Janssen. The screens were used to fire the paintings into the six glass surfaces, which are selectivley superimposed. Augmenting the silk screened artwork is acid etching applied by hand as brush strokes, and hand painting with frit bearing pigment. This project executed for Ron Wood at Derix Art Glasstudios, Taunusstein, Germany.

The Four Seasons Hotel Miami commissioned RWAAG to craft and execute glass elements for the Hotel Lobby.
One of the two commissioned art glass features is a seventeen panel Grand Stair balustrade. The panels were crafted as an optically reciprocal single canvas. The second commission includes two sculptural glass screens partitioning the promenade and the Acqua restaraunt.

Re... binds the artwork experientially, optically, and tonally. Commissions are to harmonically relate to the RWAAG commissions installed in the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco entitled A Sense of Residence.

Toucan Project for Rainforest Habitat

Toucan Project for Rainforest Habitat

(RonWoodArchitectu...)

The Toucan Project, designed and executed by Ron Wood and Christian Karl Janssen. Toucan: Glass Entry, 22' by 11.5' by 1.24" thick; Toucan Tooth, Glass gate; and Toucan Bill, Three aviary pocket doors.

Shadows enliven this heavy glass gate, as seen here with fronds and Ron Wood. Two and one quarter inches thick, this pivoting barrier establishes interactive tone forexperiences to come.

Glazers strap the Toucan door for craning. The optically tuned glass is liquid ice. Pictured: the Toucan door, measuring 7.5' by 11.0' by 1.25". The glass is one single unit, mechanically bonded by a liquid lamination process.

Cradled in a custom steel frame, the 1200 pound Toucan door glides from outside the residence to the installation position.

Chief Joseph is a highly inspirational figure to me. The title means the real people in Nez Perce. The stopper was made by Milissa Montini and of course the feather is not glass. We had been waiting for a piece like this to colaborate on. This piece went to a collector in Toledo.

This guy just cracks me up. A great patron of glass and glass design in his day. There are some neat quotes in his museum about glass in his early work as an illustrator. He even designed some glass through Stuben.

I still have this one... considering a companion piece or two for it.

Wild Bill Hickock is fascinating to me. So is poker. I've had this one in mind for quite some time. I was reading this book about Bill and I decided it was time to start putting it together. A very nice lady from Australia now is the prowd owner.
