RIP TIDE

RIP TIDE

(TravisWeberGlass)
Small Paperweight! About 2 inches. I had fun making these paperweights. It was a long process that finally brought me to this point. I learned a butt load along the way. I think I am ready to make another batch.

2006 - 01 "Textured Troy Collaboration"

(AndrewBrown)
This is my favorite one yet.. The most recent in the series of collaborative work between myself and Troy Bennett. This coldworked paperweight features a heavily textured rock like solid with a natural looking cut crystal face. The hand faceted front opens up layers of powdered glass, and reveals a multiple layer gold fumed and cobalt implosion. In the center of the piece is a large irridescent white gilson opal floating right above the implosion. The organic looking facet cuts through the texture, revealing circular patterns around the perimiter of the face. This piece measures 2.42" x 3.1"

2006 - 03 "weightlets"

(AndrewBrown)
These small paperweights were inspired by a mushroom marble Jared Delong made and brought to tucson a couple of weeks back. The simple cut with the non frit outside is a litte out of my norm, but I like the elegant look.. . Props again to Jared for the inspiration. average size is 1.5"

2006 - 03 "area 51 experimental"

(AndrewBrown)
This unique experimental series started a few years back conceptually, in the beginning days of KBglassworks.. We were set up at a local craft show in Edgewood, New Mexico. The woman next to us told us of her father who happened to be the retired head scientist/lampworker from Los Alamos National Laboratories. . No longer using his torch, his daughter offered some of the old tools, glass, and color from her fathers old shop. Most of the random finds we came upon consisted of scratched clear, colored boro from the 50's/60's,random tools and a small envelope that has lead me to this extremely rare and limited Area 51 mystery series. The old weathered envelope was addressed to the head scientist from McDonald Douglas Astronautics department. Inside the envelope was a small 1" X 2" metallic like sheet of mystery foil. After talking to Henry from Glass Alchemy we are speculating that it is a platinum sheet, but i like to believe that it is a piece of foil like rememinance from the crash site a

Reme... in Men in Black, where the dog is carrying around the little Universe around his neck? [Okay, I've just been informed it was a cat named Orion who wore the Universe around Orion's belt...thanks] That's what I'm striving to do. Put a little world or universe or a story into a little piece of glass.

Here's a few recent paperweights. I've been doing them for quite a while and sell them mostly through the Bergstrom-Mahler Paperweight Museum - Neenah, WI. I'll add pics of older ones as I find time. Future paperweights will include florals and faceted anemones. Thanks for looking.

Here I am having fun playing with the Dichro glass I picked up cheap of the net. I think next time I will buy exactly what I want but playing with numerous scraps made me realize that some of the colors I thought I wanted, i don't; and others I would never have tried, i Love !!!
