Hollow Beads - Nov.

Hollow Beads - Nov.

(NewberyArtGlass)
I have been looking to make some larger focal beads that are not too heavy. Hollow seems a good answer. A little gold fuming and inside out coloring makes for a nice looking focal.
Purposely popped hollow

Purposely popped hollow

(LoriRobbins)
Well I thought I would put this oldie but goodie up. It’s Moretti, which I don’t dabble in that much anymore. This scary looking guy was popped on purpose just to see if I could make something from it. Then after I did make the mask, I thought I could throw another wrench in and added the tongue. It moves a little from side to side :D Glass that moves when cold, bliss!

A gallery of hollow blown boro beads created spring and summer of 2003 by Josh Bonazza. These beads were made from hollow tubing using inside out and reverse axis methods.

Almost every bead store I'm in has asked for smaller amphora. I had real trouble making them small. I was trained to do hollow work from tubing and getting under 2 inches with consistent sizing for the neck and stopper was difficult. Then I remembered "It's a hollow bead .. thats BEAD" so I made it as a bead, wow it's simple, it's fun, only 1 to 1.25 inches long, could go smaller and looks nice. They are just great for aromatherapy.

Harmony in Glass~ The beads in my gallery reflect the peaceful nature of the gardens that surround my studio.

Encased layers of hollihocks, foxglove, lillies, wildflowers, and violets are some of my favorite subjects.

Hollow beads covered with sculptured flowers and ivy are another passion. The conch shells are a technique that I developed after taking instruction for blowing beads.

Hollow Focal Beads by Fire Goddess

Hollow Focal Beads by Fire Goddess

(FireGoddess)
These Fire Goddess Large Hollow Beads are a signature exclusive item created by Susan specifically for presentation at the Bead & Jewelry shows we do around the country. The demand for these beads has grown beyond our wildest expectations and we have decided to display these focals on the website. These wonder, large hollow focal beads have a large hole to all for more flexibility in designing.
The complexity of making each hollow bead results in everyone being a little different. Beads shown on this page are examples only. Susie will do her best to recreate the color combination and design as close as possible. Either way you will love your one-of-akind bead. Sizes vary a little but the approximate deminsions are top to bottom; 1" and side to side; 1".

Brook's Blown Heart Beads

Here are just a few examples of my hearts. They look incredible strung up on a necklace accented by boro mandrel beads. Some of our galleries are stringing them up as elegant suncatchers.

Please contact me direct for all purchase inquiries, JonesArtGlass@gma... These beads capture the beauty of the Desert Southwest. The best thing about Albuquerque, NM is the brilliant natural palette of color around me. Purples, creams, blues...All right next to each other. Popping out of the desert landscape and into these beads.

The High Desert Honeycomb is a Flatback Hollow Bead. Each one is handblown boroslicate glass with a 1/8 in hole pierced through its diameter. Thank you for your interest.

Mistakes are Fashion

Mistakes are Fashion

(L.BazCreations)
My grandmother used to say that "Mistakes are fashion". This is what pushed my hand to continue playing in the flame when I mistakenly screwed up and the bead should have been aborted into a glass of water!

I laughed out loud when these came out of the kiln... They are my new companions.

All my beads are mandrel wound using Vitrofond and Moretti glass. Some are as large as 45mm. I like to use filigrana on the sides so that a spiral window of light occurs. I seem to get my best inspirations when in 'twilight' sleep. I experience what psychologists call "hypnogogic' imagery when in the state between being awake and asleep. Using this imagery, I can see the bead I am planning to make. I use this as an excuse to my wife so I can sleep in. --"But honey....I AM working!"

This is a set of borosilicate blown beads. They are ISO and made from one piece of stock. It is alchemy and Draconis color with gold and silver fume. It is just shy of 1/2 lb. A regular MONSTER! I believe this necklace will look stunning with an elegant black evening gown. This piece is for sale contact me for pricing. I am having a hard time pricing this necklace if other atrists could contact me with opinions and suggestions for bead pricing, it would be hugely appreciated. (720-329-9195)
I am really enjoying the jewelry thing.
Thank You for looking, **james**

I've been at the torch trying to make something out of the ordinary to send to the Gathering 2006 in Kansas City. Owen isn't going though. He's staying home with us because he has such a big mouth!
Hollow Vessels

One of my absolute favorite items to create is glass vessels. I just love hollow forms of all kinds, but the patience required while making a vessel places me in a wonderfully exciting yet meditative place!

Here's something a little different from me.

This is a hollow focal bead with two spacer beads. I've only made a handful of hollows, so I was really pleased with the way this one turned out.

The focal bead was made for a Survivor bead game at WC. And because my guy won Survivor, I got the bead stash and my beads.
Way to go YUL!!

Thanks for looking.

I've discovered that I really like making hollow beads with this fabulous glass. By making the beads hollow, people can enjoy how wonderfully streaky this glass is by nature!
