Earthamoon -- on fire...

Earthamoon -- on fire...

(MelodieLee)
Watching hot glass slide sideways in the flame is one of the most sensual things I can think of. When I am at the torch I feel so completely "in the moment", totally Zen! I love the colors, the shapes and the textures that can happen so spontaneously. A passion for lampworked beads has changed my creative life.

2005: Happy New Year all! New skills will hopefully give me the opportunity to share new work with you soon. I took the leap from spare-time beadmaking to full time. It's a little scary but very exciting, too. My website is up and running--please check it out!! Thanks for looking at my work! Melodie Lee

This set is one of my favorites. Here I have incorporated Lavender base beads with embellishments of Red and Black. One or two have some Turquoise. Raised dots Plunged dots Stratified dot Plunged dots with raised dots of clear. By now I guess you have noticed something similar in all these beads, and it is not the color. Ah the Dots !!!!! I love working with Dots.

Tiger Collection

Tiger Collection

(KelleyNash.Glassb...)
I love to make tiger beads! Here's an example of what all can be done. There is an urn, spirit woman, lampwork ring(for your finger-which I love) and how about the mask guys! I could have kept adding and adding to this collection.

"Everything Under the Sun"

(ArtInsomnia)
I've recently fallen hopelessly in love with melting glass! I began my journey into lampworking in July 2004. I have yet to take any classes, (though I hope to one day) and have taught myself via on-line tutorials and books. I get a rush every time I light the torch, and I have a feeling it's going to be that way for a long time to come. I hope you enjoy looking at some of my beads.
Have a beady-utiful day!

The bead sets pictured here show several different styles. I try to create something new every day and in doing that, I learn something new. I try to push myself farther out of my comfort zone every day. I want to be saying "yikes" when I'm at the torch.

Novembersfyre - Summer Rain Glow Gloves

(Novembersfyre)
Novembersfyre on eBay. Summer Rain Glow Globes are round beads. Lots of pure silver give these bright beads unreal shine against organic ivory accents. Drops of clear cling like rain.

"My Seashells"

(ArtInsomnia)
I've recently started making these seashells and I just can't stop! Actually, the first one I made quite by accident. I was super heating some ivory and intense black to gat that lace effect on a bicone and almost lost control of it. It started to drip off the mandrel, so I quickly picked up my little spatula tool and jammed it into the glass to keep it from falling onto my bench. Then when I looked at it, I thought, Hey! That looks kind of like a seashell! So I spiraled the top and popped it into the kiln. The next day I pulled out the cutest little seashell....in completely inappropriate colors. The rest, shall we say, was history....>^..^<

March was the month for experimenting with color! All my beads are made from soft glass..Moretti, Lauscha, Vetrofond, or Effrete with the colors achieved by layering transparents and opaques.

Here are some of the beads I have been working on this season. I am really having fun playing with these new shapes and styles - like the square mosaic tile beads and the textured Raku beads. Still, I try to make lots of Siberian Tiger beads for the bead shows coming up. I hope to bring all these beads to the Bead & Button Show this June in Milwaukee, WI.
Silvered Space Gems, Galaxy Beads, Raku-style, Electric Blue, Rock Candy Sets

Silvered Space Gems, Galaxy Beads, Raku-style, Electric Blue, Rock Candy Sets

(BearfootArt-Scott...)
I have developed a variety of looks with my beadmaking that I have grouped into categories based on certain characteristics. They all use silver leaf. Space Gems are Effetre Ivory and Vetrofond clear. Galaxy Beads are Effetre Ivory, Vetrofond Black, and Vetrofond Clear. Raku-style is the black and ivory without clear. Electric Blue is a certain look I get by using the tool I invented - The Electric Mandrel Spinner. I use it to get those fine lines. The blue color comes from the silver. Rock Candy beads are a mix of these that usually don't have a lot of depth and have a great color variety.
Early Sets

Early Sets

(LavenderCreekGlass)
Here is a sampling of some of my earliest work...beads I made within my first 4 months as a bead maker. Some are pretty nice, others not so great, but they all taught me something. You'll see several different styles and techniques. Be sure to check out my other gallery pages (the work is much better ;) )! Enjoy, and remember, comments, requests, and questions are always welcome.

Autumn leaves are here....

Autumn leaves are here....

I am so loving making these leaves. There are 2 colours of Caliente cane (one reduction colour) with just a dusting of raku powder and then reduced. I personally have a full necklace of these and they are stunning. Each leaf has been shaped by heating, pulling and pinching.
Here is a small collection of SOLD beads.

My style has progressed and morphed over time but I always love to look back on work I have done for future inspiration. Here are a few sets that have found new homes with nice people!
