Glow in the dark Mermaid

Glow in the dark Mermaid

(Michael)
I began working on a Hot Head in 2000 and discovered the human form was the most fun. After seeing a demo my work improved, I ordered a minor and a marble demo sent me off into that realm for a while. After a three year break am now back to the torch. With the inspiration from the Glow Glass creators my ladies are evolving. Hope you enjoy , thanks for looking at my work.
This mermaid is a mixture of three different glasses. Her body is soft glass and glow glass, her hair is Uranium glass and the tail is soft glass. She is almost 4 inches long.

Odalisque

Odalisque

(SheilaMorley)
The Odalisque pose is a traditional
pose found in paintings throughout history. Here I have created a relief with the glass.
The use of glass as a medium for sculpture along with this pose symbolizes, for me, the liberation of women in this country (USA) or even around the world. Not only are we learning the secrets of glass...we are free from the barbaric reputation that we once had.
(Hoping that the less civilized countries free the women from those traditions).

Celebrate the Family

Celebrate the Family

So inspired by the idea of creating Art that is meaningful to the individual that owns it.Bringing on happiness or sadness; for sure is a personal experience. All families are a work of art.
A Study in Faces

A Study in Faces

(LisaRippee)
My love of all things sculptural has taken me down many paths over the years, with different media. But from the moment I lit my first torch, I knew I had found THE vehicle for my creative expression. Glass! And yes, I'm sure you've read that statement in many glass artists' bios. I know I have. But man, can I relate! After a recent class with the one and only Sharon Peters, my glass creations seem to literally come to life before my eyes. I hope these guys make you smile. Thanks for visiting.

'Thou rememberest

Since once I sat upon a promontory,

And heard a mermaid on a Dolphin's back

Uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath,

That the rude sea grew civil at her song;

And certain stars shot madly from their spheres,

To hear the sea-maid's music.'

William Shakespeare...A Midsummer Night's Dream

My first goddess beads

My first goddess beads

(AyakoHATTORI)
I haven't made sculpture bead because my Satake is too soft to make it. But when I saw Western style beads of women's body, I found out they are so beautiful. I always enjoy seeing them. Then I decided to try some. They are my first goddess beads of Satake.
