This is the last of the pieces from this batch of orange themed canes. I noticed on this last group of marbles just how much orange crayon can vary in shade from batch to batch. I really prefer the more saturated orange in the first one. Thanx for looking.

The scarab beetle enjoyed sacred status among ancient Egyptians. The scarab was linked to Khepri, god of the rising sun. The supposed self-creation of the beetle resembles that of Khepri, who creates himself out of nothing.

The ancient Egyptians believed that Khepri renewed the sun every day before rolling it above the horizon, then carried it through the other world after sunset, only to renew it, again, the next day. The image of the scarab, conveying ideas of transformation, renewal, and resurrection, is ubiquitous in ancient Egyptian religious and funerary art.

Made of Effetre glass over a GTT Phantom. Measures about 2" long and 1.5" tall.

Jason stopped by last week for a bit and we busted out some marbles- all are up on eBay right now until June 1 Sunday evening around 7pm (link below or search for Kevin Nail on eBay). We have some bubble traps with killer fuming, some of my new sandblasting, and a great combo of Jason making a brain that I put inside of a box. All are great marbles and were a blast to make!
