I long to understand the assembly technique used in thease vessels. I love to make this type of work, I hope to spend the rest of my life working with the ideas represented here. After six years of lampworking I know that I am only at the starting line for this kind of work. I have to sell a LOT of glass rings to have the time and materials to make pieces like this. If you have any intrest in this work, please dear God, call me and tell me so, I need the encouragement. Wile you are at it, yell at me for getting off the torch to answer the phone. I put everything I have into the work posted here. That is the funny thing with glass, effort does not count, what it looks like is what counts and I have a long way to go. I would like to thank those few people who have purchased this type of work from me: you are fullfilling a dream. Thank you for investing in my life, in a few years it will be worth it (I hope). Thank you.

Ez Eddy came by and granted me with a visit, I felt very honored to meet this talented artist and wonderful person, this was the first time I saw somone working boro except for myself.
We had a great time together and I only hope next time we could spend some more...
We had very limited time so we decided to make a little colab work.
Since Ed had to leave early I had to assamble this goblet alone (never done that before...) I believe it turned out nice after all.
Thank you Ed!!!

Five pieces from Penland - Bottles, Goblets, Sake Set

Five pieces from Penland - Bottles, Goblets, Sake Set

(AndrewJ.Pollack)
Made Summer 2005. Two pieces on this page are still available, and they are two of Andrew's favorites. These are the Montage Sake Set and the Octopus Goblet that Andrew made last summer while assisting Brian Kerkvliet, at Penland School of Crafts. As a TA, Andrew gained invaluable experience from Brian and others. The other three pieces featured on this page were made using murinne, overlay, and graal techniques. Please enjoy.
New Vessles 2005

New Vessles 2005

(AndrewJ.Pollack)
This page contains a series of Vessles made from January to August 2005, as well as, a gallery of work made prior to 2005. See lamps, sake sets, perfume bottles, goblets, candy dishes, and more. Scroll down to the bottom of this page for the most current images, or click on any of the texts below to enter one of the galleries. Mostly single "celebration" goblets and pairs, but can accomadate your needs. Starting at $40 each, you, too, can drink in style. And everyone agrees - it always tastes better out of hand made glass.

Floral Sculptures , Spider web cage cups, and Vessels

(RJasonHoward)
This gallery showcases some of my most detailed work. i began doing the cage cups in 2000 as an experiment to use up poorly blown goblets, (which there were many) as i was trying to learn traditional venetian techniques both in the hot shop and at the torch. the forms are first blown, with the holes picked out later. somtimes i drop a new hot bubble back in to the "cage" and open them up together, with the holes refilled. i let the random assortment of holes determine the details, and keep only the original outline as the last reference point to a classic form. i take great pride in blowing them as perfectly and thinnly as possible, only to "wreck" a perfectly good cup with holes later. this has become one of my unique signature styles, which i think works well to combine my love of italian glass traditions and natural forms

I was inspired to do this goblet when I found out that I was going to be a father. K.c. and I had a little girl by the name of Jordan Kaylee who is 5 months old. Thanks for looking!

these were made after a goblet workshop. I bought a case of 38 medium and used half of it to just make tops, after I had a box full of tops I picked the good ones and made stems and feet. It was a great way to learn to make and assemble goblets.

Let me preface the next couple of uploads with the fact that the crappy card table I have my photo stuff set on has a divot on the left side hence everything on the left looks like it is leaning. When I become more professional :) I will get a real table to take my pics on!!! Again, thanks to Steve Sizelove for the amazing class...Andy has lots of ideas brewing...just starting with the basics.

two of these goblet have solid orange stems and two have striped stems, rasta gold, orange and green. We have a demonstration coming up and realized we had nothing new to showcase....so Andy decided to have some fun with goblets, quick!!! Again slanty table issues...grrr
