"Traditional Venitian Style" October 17th & 18th with Christian Luginger was an increadible class focusing on the basics behind working with clear tubing to create traditional Venitian style cups, feet, stems, plates and bowls. It was just enough information to keep us all busy for a good while. We look forward to the intermediate class Spring 2008. Here are some photos... check us out @www.austinflamew...

Demo for MAD

Demo for MAD

(SteveSizelove)
I was asked to demonstrate goblet-making for the Museum of Arts & Design in NYC. The museum could not host the demo, so it was at Heller Gallery in Manhattan.

It was a unique experience - flameworking in a high-end gallery! I tried really hard not to burn their floor!

Sincere thanks to the museum, Tecnolux, and all who attended. It was a memorable event!

Northwest Artists Colab - May 21-23 2004 @ Emmetts Studio in Seattle, WA. Thanks to Tom @ NS, Generations Glass, Colored Sands, ABR, Profound Glass for contributing materials. In attendance was Nathan Miers, Justin Wells, Lee Newbury, Hel, Tom from Northstar, Emmett, Daniel (redashesglass), Zeus, and a few others who stopped by for a few minutes (sorry again if I left anyone out). It was a fun learning experience, mainly how to organize 10 working lampworkers, but we had loads of fun, nonetheless.
Prince Rupert Video

Prince Rupert Video

(AndrewBrott)
Prince Rupert Drops are tempered glass drips that are dropped into water while hot and rapidly cooled. This thermal shock gives them have a "temper", and if the tail or any section is broken they explode. For a video of this one blowing up, email me and I will send it as an attachment. It's a big file....

I have taken a number of workshops from Robbin over the last 3 years and it changed the way I approached the medium and my subject matter. I highly reccomend a workshop for anyone who would like to take their art and techniques to a higher level.

Marbleslinger, Chris Carlson and I came together for a two or three days to make a series of tribute marbles to a few of our favorite glass artists using the Graal technique. Robert Mickelsen, Josh Sable, and Gateson Recko were the 'victims'. Captions say the rest. Thanks for looking!
