Albuquerque, NM - Beginning Boro Class

Albuquerque, NM - Beginning Boro Class

(JonesArtGlass)
New class offered Saturday March 4th!!!!! Two seats left...

I teach a beginner flameworking class on Saturdays. Its at Stained Glass Concepts and we've been running them for a few months successfully. It's jokingly referred to as "How to not get cut, burned, or go blind 101" I enjoy working with beginner level students because they display so much enthusiasm and wonderment. Its cool to get to see that "WoW" moment as someone pulls their first stringer, or figures out how to get a gather round, or one of a bunch of firsts... So Cool!

If you're in or will be passing through Albuquerque, NM contact me for current availablity and dates: 505-217-8535 or JonesArtGlass@gma...

Fun At the Corning glass museum!

In the fall of 04 I was lucky enough to visit the Corning glass museum in New York. What a inspirational place! I even got to do a little demo there. If you are ever near Corning NY I definitely recommend checking it out.

"A day in the life"

(Les)
brought a camera to work and made unsuspecting people (thanks Buck!!) take pictures as I taught a Museum of Fine arts Boston teen camp in the flame shop and then worked with Chris Watts on a champagne glass set at the furnace at Diablo glass and metal in Boston. The Teen camp is a program through the MFA boston that has afforded me the oppurtunity to teach flame and furnace work to a whole lot of great kids, mostly 12-18 for the last two years. Always amazing how fast the kids learn and how much I learn in teaching them....Thanks for lookin!

GRAAAAAAAAAL RULES!!!!

Just got back to the 808 from the Mickelsen workshop at Revere Glass in Berkeley. Besides the freezing cold weather the trip was awesome!!! I met a lot of cool people and great glass blowers. I learned a ton of things I had questions about and a ton of things I had no idea about!! Mickelsen was a great teacher and I learned a lot from him and a lot from all the students!! The facility is great and Dustin is doing a good thing for our glass community!!! We had a live nude model one night, and Suellen Fowler even stopped in and did a demo for us!!! Sweeeeeeet!!!!

I know others posed pics, but I got a few cool ones, and I wanted to share them too... The Bowl was sweet!!!

Here's a few pics I snapped during the 2nd session of the 2007 Sonoran Glass Art Academy Flame Off in Tucson, AZ.

I was a little busy during the 1st session making a marble, and I couldn't get any pics. I hope others will post their pics so I can see how cool I looked bumping elbows with Bandhu Dunham - literally, bumping elbows as we torched.

It was a great event. My hat goes off to the Sonoran Glass Art Academy for everything they did to make it a good time.

Some pics from the Emilio Santini class @ Revere last week. What a treat to learn from Emilio. Really cool guy, he makes everything look so easy!! Thanks to Emilio and ACE for coming out, I learned a lot. I didn't even work very much, just watched and learned in awe!! I highly suggest taking his class if your into goblets and venetian style glass.
