A Rainbow Of Cane Sitting On The Table
(
JamesAllowayArtGlass
)
This is a photo of a table top filled with James different cane designs. It all begins with a couple of days worth of making stringer and then proceeds to crafting the different cane styles. James has even crafted his own style of cane that he calls "lattigrana", a combination of filigrana and latticino.
2 - 4th of July Art Exchange Party 2004
(
LucidVisions
)
Every 4th of July we throw an art exchange party, open to all artists no matter what the medium or experience level. The on going joke each year being that you could receive a glass blown vase or a macaroni collage, you just don't know what you're going to get. This year we had 38 entries of art, oil paintings, soft glass, flameworked glass, pottery and textiles to name a few and over a hundred people attending the event. Demos were given by Josh Bergesen demonstrating a scarab beetle, Micah Evans completing a ventian style goblet and Lance Sanford sculpting a male torso from hollow tubing. We will be having the party again in 2005 and would love to have more artists involved in the event, so please feel free to contact us for more info.

Wildwoman Creations Working Glass studio/gallery 2005
(
WildWomanCreations
)
Our gallery opened June 2005. I redesigned the displays and just got around to taking pictures of the new setting for my work. The gallery is in a constant state of change, moving this here and that there. It is so much fun to play with all the jewelry. I feel like I have the world's largest jewelry box and I love every design. I even have people ask if it is OK to buy one of my pieces because they can feel my attachment. But who would not be attached to their soul? Rosie the Wildwoman
Life at the North Side Studio in Boulder Colorado
(
HaroldWilliamsCooney
)
What does it take to be a lamp worker? One needs to spend a whole lot of quality time in a really good hang out spot: THE STUDIO! I have had my share of glass shops; apprenticed at one, worked at a few, bought one, sold one, build a few. But this place, North Side Studio, is my playground, way better than any other place I have worked. I live in the studio with the mice and spiders; I like to think of it as a one star hotel with out aggravation of all the fancy amenities. I have lived in many glass shops and I have to say that it suits me; I was never a domestic kind of guy. Give me some plywood and a dumpster dived futon and I’m happy. Boulder is a fancy, high end place. 300 days/year of liberalized vegetarian sunshine and lots of rich people in huge houses. The road we are on goes like this: Million dollar house, million dollar house, bunch of kids blowing glass in a barn, million dollar house. I live the glassy life here and wouldn't ever ask for more. Except a better torch. And some more color.
My Dollhouse Studio
(

)
My Husband will tell you - If you build her a beautiful glass studio - you will ALWAYS know where she is! This studio began as a playhouse for our three children but after they "outgrew" it we remodelled it into my little dollhouse studio.
Brian Kerkvliet at Penland 2005
(
AndrewJ.Pollack
)
This was a great class and I got my first experince as a TA at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC. Click here for more photos of Penland 2005. They have since done major work on the lampworking studio, installing snorkle vent tubes and more kilns by each pair of workstations.
The picture shown is our class colaboration, components made by the students, preheated by the kiln and myself, and handed off to Brian to assemble. The tree is hollow and the components are all sculpted. I included a fairy on a mushroom and the medallion reflection pond on the front ground. The base is a frosted piece of plate glass with the class name and all of the students names sandblasted and engraved on it. It went for $400 at the Penland auction and was later traded to a student from the class who will appreciate it fully. He was in tears over the deal he got. Cheers.

How to put together a chandalier with zip-ties!!
(
MicahEvans
)
At my old studio we had this chandalier that would get a new life every couple of years. It is made up of silver and gold fumed twisty cane "pendants" and about 500 zip ties! Its lots of fun and pretty easy to put together, itjust took a long time to make the 2000 twisties to cover the surface area!
Torching it up! 2005
(
Christina
)
Here's a few photos of me at my home studio. I still have some adjusting to do with my workspace. I am also working on getting better glasses with split lenses because I can't see a thing with these sometimes!
