Penland School of Crafts workshop

(AlexUbatuba)
This was a week long class at Penland with Paul Stankard and Luccio Bubacco. The class was a combination of the flame shop with the hot glass shop, we would lampwork components, and then cast over them in a graphite mold. I had a great time, you had to look at the class with an experimental attitude, i think people had a lot of fun with it. There were 22 people in the class, i left meeting some really cool people. These are some pictures of the casting process, some of Luccio and Paul's work, and miscellaneous photos. Sorry, some of the are turned sideways, I don't have photo shop but i will fix when i can. enjoy

Class instructors Lucio Bubacco and Paul Stankard.
The focus of this class was to create (as a class) three panels depicting the Devine Comedy. The pics in this group are the components of each panel Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory before they were cast into panels. There are also photos of our class and Lucio and Paul and me.
Special Thanks to Andy (Andrew Jackson Pollack, pictured in the lower right of the class photo)for sending me the Photos!!!

This class was in Rosannas Guslers studio in Wanchese,NC.
There were 10 of us in the class and we had a really great time.
The kiln was built by Bert and the students the week prior to the sink making.
We also had an xtra kiln brought in by Stan in the class and he was able to make a vanity sink too.

Say that 10 times fast! Well, this year's event (the second annual) was held at Philly Glassworks, and was an amazing time! With more experience came a better organized event that went smoothly and was a total blast! There were more competitors and better prizes-and two full days of torch working. Thanks to Philly Glassworks and their amazing staff, all the girls, the sponsors, and everyone who came out to watch! And thank you Glasscraft, for sponsoring my trip. I can't wait for next year!- at Revere glass in Berkeley, CA.
