'Akohekohe (Palmeria dolei) on 'Ohi'a (Metrosideros polymorpha)

The endangered 'Akohekohe or Crested Honeycreeper was once found on Molokai as well but today is only found in the remote rainforests of East Maui. Its white headcrest is the perfect pollinator for the 'Ohi'a lehua, hawaii's dominant native rainforest tree. Someday I would love to see one, i believe they are down to around 1200 birds left and only live in extremely thick forest where access is restricted. There is some info at this link if yr. interested. http://nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/hawaii/preserves/art2358.html

Phase III: 8/2004

Finally a finished peice of glass I would actually sell. Have many series of figuartive sculpture to persue in the years to come. Now to build up some inventory and look into the art/craft show market and galleries. Figures in this "phase are mainly going to be gestural and color play. Photographing is still hard, clear and frosted glass...Oy.

6. Boro Water Fountain

This water fountain was inspired by another fountain I saw at a demo/open house at Seattle Glassworks Park in '02 or '03. The artist's name escapes me, but I'll come back and fill in the blank as soon as I recall as to 'give props where props is due'. I was so inspired, I later spent five long days constructing this fountain. In hindsight, I wish I would have put more of my own spin/style on it, but I was pretty limited at what I could do behind the torch at the time. I also only made one as to more or less reverse engineer the actual function of one that inspired me, so that I could build the next one with my own style/ideas (once my skills caught up with my mind).
