Neon/Plasma

Here is a collection of my Neon/Plasma work. The following pieces were flameworked with Borosilicate 33 COE, or blown off-hand with Spruce Pine 96 COE. Then pumped with inert gasses such as Neon, Argon, Xenon etc. Thanks for the help of Ed Kirshner, Tom Galbraith and Don Beck. Its been a while since I have made one, but I am itching to do more very soon.

The First Event- Success!

http://www.thecoloradoproject.com/ This event went very well. Everyone had a great time, thanks to all our sponsors and volunteers who worked very hard to make it happen! Close to 100 people participated in the collaboration, and many more came out to watch and have fun! Artists donated many beautiful pieces as well. The reception for the art pieces will be held at Shack Man Glass Studios (Artful Things) on August 7th and 8th. I think Learning Landscapes will certainly be pleased with the funds we have raised so far, with more to come.

the car formerly known as a naked canvas

Some friends on mine did my car up for me a couple days ago. I bought the jeep a few months back for $100...and I couldn't help but think of what could be done with all the white space. My friend had the great idea for the giant retti. AWESOME!

Belladonna and the Mandragora

“Belladonna and the Mandragora” by Christian Arnold and Laurie Young flamework, cast crystal, found object/taxidermy bell approx 35cmH x 25cmW Based on medieval botanical, medical and alchemical imagery, we have attempted to recapture a kind of mystery which is almost lost to this modern world of science. In our quest for knowledge we imagine that we know far more than we actually do and often forget to look at the world with the kind of child-like wonder a cabinet of curiosities can evoke.
