Aquatic Life Continued

Aquatic sculptures continued is a result of my inability to make other projects with out making more aquatic life scuptures as well. It seems my exploration/expression of these pieces is not complete. Enjoy! Feel free to email questions/comments. Ro

Pittsburgh Glass Centers' Andre Gutgesell class

a couple weeks ago i had the great fortune of taking a class with a flameworker called Andre Gutgesell. he was flown over by the Pittsburgh Glass Center from Lauscha, Germany. this was his first time teaching, and he was incredibly patient with us. he was taught primarily by Kurt Wallstab, also of Lauschan descent, and trained in colour and design at the Bauhuas in Germany. we used only hand pulled tubing from lauscha which has a coefficient similar to furnace glass, around 97 or so.

Corning has made space available for my upcoming class, July 24 through Aug. 5th. taking just one week of the class is possible now, an option for those who can't spend two weeks away from thier responsibilities at home. sign up now, don't miss it. we'll have acces to the museum, the Rakow library, and the studios. American meastro Bill Gudenrath will be teaching in the hot-shop, a real sight to see..

reticello pendant

This reticello pendant was made with elvis and silver strike 5. It came together really nicely, it almost has a plaid look. This pendant is currently at auction on ebay.

Geodes

All of these Geodes are made whole, cooled down and then cut, polished, heated and re-worked. I always loved geodes as a kid and now I can make my own. I'm never quite sure what they are going to look like before I cut them open so it brings back some of my childhood excitement. A few of these have been posted before but I figured I have enough new ones to make a new catagory. 4"W x 3"H
