silver series #15

GILDED AQUA VINES

3 cool transparent light aqua hollow beads are intricately decorated with super metallic scrolling vines and leaves. This metallic glass, "Elektra", made by Double Helix, is a beautiful transparent aquamarine that's loaded with silver. When heavily reduced, the result is a gorgeous, almost mirror like finish. On these, I was pleasantly surprised to find the sheen had taken on a slightly golden tint! Surprisingly lightweight for their bold size, hollow beads are perfect for larger style earrings that will wear comfortably on the ear.

ANGEL'S IVY

The base of this hollow bead is made with Effetre's new "rose quartz", a nice soft transparent rosy pink. I then decorated the bead with an intricate raised scrolling vine / leaf motif with this "mystery silver glass", not really expecting too much - I have to admit, in rod form, this glass looks pretty boring. But, when I wafted the bead through a reduction flame, to bring out the metals, WOW!!! The scrollwork turned to a soft golden tone, and the entire bead is ever-so-lightly fumed with a heavenly iridescent sheen. Of course, I only have a small bundle of this stuff, so when it's gone, it's gone.....unless Jed can make some more? :0)

MYSTIC IVY

I am so pleased with how this one turned out! I was playing around with an oddlot glass that I had purchased quite a while ago from Double Helix, and finally got around to getting this one out to see what mysteries it holds. What a surprise!! The base of this hollow bead is made with a cool transparent blue. The scrollwork turned to a soft golden tone, and the entire bead is ever-so-lightly fumed with a heavenly iridescent sheen and hints of green.
