Economic Stimulus Plan.

here's a couple flics of my installation at SOFA NY 2009. Represented by SIlica Galleries in Philadelphia. The theme of the work revolves around money, in both a personal and political fashion. As an artist, money and business is a frustrating yet necessary evil. There is "art" and there are "products for sale", and those cross over to different extents. Andy Warhol had a creative block early in his career and was talking to a gallery owner who told him that he should just "paint what he wanted", which led to his series of dollar bill works. My series of pieces mash's up american pop culture with an anarchist writing the script. A full cylce takes place in 5 stages, the manifestation of greed, the abuse and disrespect, desecration, hedonism, and corporate control of your mind at all costs. there are 25 separate pieces, each is etched and painted glass and was custom framed in a high quality black frame. for individual pics or to purchase go to www.silicagalleries.com

Wall Flowers

we just came back from Sydney. We ran some work up and helped set up an exhibition which will open next week. These are some of the wall flowers we made for the show. Laurie cast the frames and backings from lead crystals and did some of the flower sprays. The other flowers are my work. hope you enjoy :)

Pink Rhododendron Cluster

Life-sized flowers, fresh out of the annealer. These haven't been made into anything yet (necklace, cake topper, etc) so stamens are not in place. These still need to be lightly etched to take some of the glassy gloss off the flowers. 90coe Bullseye NFS. These are already spoken for. Thanks.

2009 - 03 Cast Boro "Cityscape"

After over a year of experimenting with color compatibilities, kiln schedules and finishing processes, the results are well worth the effort and wait. The response was immediate and wonderful. The piece includes flameworked milli, cast boro, sandcarving, grinding/wheel carving, and electroformed copper. Measures 10.5 inches in height, 5 1/8 inches at its widest point and 17mm deep

International Hot Glass Invitational '09

This was the first year for this unbelievable event, held at the Southpoint hotel Arena and boasting some of the world's greatest glassworkers. I was fortunate enough to attend, and witnessed the most mind-blowing feats of skill, guts, and sheer brilliance! The creativity I saw was indescribable! Everyone involved worked incredibly hard to make this event happen, and it was a huge success! I was unable to capture much of the action successfully, so be sure to check out the posts on glasspipes.org for better pictures of this event. Also, more information is available at internationalglassinvitational.com. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I know this experience will inspire me and many others for years to come!
