Economic Stimulus Plan.

here's a couple flics of my installation at SOFA NY 2009. Represented by SIlica Galleries in Philadelphia. The theme of the work revolves around money, in both a personal and political fashion. As an artist, money and business is a frustrating yet necessary evil. There is "art" and there are "products for sale", and those cross over to different extents. Andy Warhol had a creative block early in his career and was talking to a gallery owner who told him that he should just "paint what he wanted", which led to his series of dollar bill works. My series of pieces mash's up american pop culture with an anarchist writing the script. A full cylce takes place in 5 stages, the manifestation of greed, the abuse and disrespect, desecration, hedonism, and corporate control of your mind at all costs. there are 25 separate pieces, each is etched and painted glass and was custom framed in a high quality black frame. for individual pics or to purchase go to www.silicagalleries.com

Baxter Studios's Gallery

This is a copy of my favorite Original Tiffany Lamp and Base. I have an inventory of rare Lins and Schlitz Glass as well as special "end of the day" sheets of glass used for special effects. The Turtleback Mosaic Base was lost wax cast from my molds and the bronze was poured here in Milwaukee. The Selenium red turtlebacks were cast in my bronze press molds which were taken from the original turtlebacks. I personally did all the metal work and the mosaic inlay. The price for the Lamp is $35,000 USD. If you an interest in purchasing the piece and would like to set up a time to view the Lamp please contact me by phone or email. JIM

Turquoise and Purple Pinwheel Suncatcher

This fused glass suncatcher is approximately 5". It was cast in an original design, handmade mold using crushed glass called frit. The depth of color and intricacy of design is achieved through layering color and multiple kiln-firings. It hangs from a thin steel chain. I love the repetitive, fractal quality of this shape. It, or something similar, has been used throughout the ages to represent the sun, the galaxy and the passage of time. It is a sister symbol to the spiral. The thin dark purple line in this piece outlines the arms and then mimics the shape almost in opposition. The radiating blues and lavender serve to accentuate and draw together the painted pattern and the molded one. This piece looks beautiful hanging in a window where it will catch the light and send color across the room, or as a wall accent. It can be hung on the wall with a nail or decorative hook.
