Sculptural Interpretation of Fly Ash Molecule from Electron Microscope Scan

Sculptue of Fly Ash (from a coal-burning power plant smokestack. Consists of Flameworked borosilicate glass, fused frits, marbles, fired-on enamels, stoneware ceramic. H. 15.5 cm, W. 12 cm, D 12 cm Photo: Cascadilla Photography, Completed October 2011. The piece was accepted and published in the current edition of the Corning Museum of Glass " New Glass Review" Issue 33. the electron micro-graph this piece is based on can be found in the book "Worlds Within Worlds: A Journey into the Unknown". Credit for the photo and scan is as follows: Dr Gerald L. Fisher. 1976 by the American Association for the Advancement of Science from "Fly Ash Collected from Electrostatic Precipitators; Microcrystalline Structure and the Mystery of the Spheres", Fisher, G.L, et al. Science, Cover, Vol. 192, 7 May 1976. Much thanks to Dr. Fisher for giving permission to use the image.

I've been meaning to make a lobster for a long time & finally made it happen. Not too bad for a first try. 15"L x 10"W x 4"h (I hope it's legal size, I'd hate to have to put it back)
