I was fortunate to have been able to make a lot of marbles this year. I am trying to archive my marbles photos from 2008. These are some of my favorite pieces of the year.

'Float On' by Mark Leputa

My first piece that goes on a stand! 'Float On' is also the first piece I have carved through the color layers to create an internal pattern (which was then sandblasted over). The surface is latheworked to give it a texture that is mirrored by the base of the steel stand. Thank you to JT Nelson (Metalwerx) for making the steel and powdercoated stand. This piece was on display at SOFA Chicago, now available through Silica Galleries. apricot over enamel white over aubergine blown, cut, polished, carved, and sandblasted glass (lathe-worked surface texture) with a steel stand (powercoated black) 7.5 " x 11" x 7.5" w/o stand 15.5" x 11" x 7.5" w/ stand 2008 AL

Tree of Life Menorah

This tree of life woman menorah was inspired by a Jewish musician. In his music I didn't so much as hear a religious message as a spiritual one (I tend to tune out religious babble anyway) His message of love and life and light shown through and she was the vision his music created in my head. Her candles glow in the dark and are filled with oil and each has a small wick (not in the pic)

Frog ona Mushroom

Had a request for a frog on a mushroom so I figured I'd try a solid mushroom this time so I could try more realistic gills on the mushroom.
