Coelophysis Bauri

Coelophysis Bauri is a 225lb,5ft wide,3 1/2 inch thick triptych cast. Made to look like how he was found at its paleontological dig site at Ghost Ranch,New Mexico in 1947. Coelophysis is a small bipedal meat eating dinosaur that lived about 200 million yrs ago. It took me over 160 hrs of Bernsteining to finish the red rock look. Each and every bone was sculpted out and took me over 4 months to finish the bones alone. This project physically, mentally, and finacially beat the hell out of me. *As a bonus I threw in a 125lb trilobite cast titled "Isotelus Rex".Made from recylced glass from Venice,Italy. Isotelus is one of the largest trilobite ever found.Measureing 2ft in length,16 inches across.Bernsteined as well. *These are 2 of 18 different glass sculptures in my solo exhibition titled "Primordial Imprints" at The Museum of the Earth. A Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca,Ny. I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.

Floral Sculptures

A new offshoot from my work in paperweights, these are much larger - ranging from 3"x3" up to 6.5"x6.5". In the future I hope to make some much larger pieces that incorporate cast glass, mixed media, and metalworking, but with these early ones I am mostly figuring out what techniques I will need in order to move from the small scale that vacuum encasing requires into life size or larger.

Encased Lampwork Paperweights

I make lampworked sculptures and paperweights using soft glass (Gaffer and Reichenbach mostly)and optical crystal. I am slowly expanding into free-standing lampworked sculpture, cast glass, Pāte de Verre, and mixed-media sculpture.

Single

Here is a little series of small portrait disc flip vessels which I made to celebrate upcoming opening of my studio in Buena Vista Virginia, Wizard Glass. We will offer functional and non-functional glass art, borosilicate glass lampworking classes, and studio rental. The place is fully built and I got all my business stuff in order, so I'll be working on a little starter inventory and be opening to the public soon. like the Wizard Glass page on facebook if you want to stay posted! - It's always fun to make time for this style. The models are from plentyoffish.com.

2011_08 Weights, Marbles, a Pendant

These pieces were created in August and September right after our daughter April was born. It's been a challenge getting back into the swing of working from the home studio with a baby here too! Here are some pictures catching up on what was created.
