"Contemporary Traditions"

Flameworked glass chandelier with welded steel frame 4'2"H x 32"W. Figured I'd mix some traditional style with something a bit more interesting.

Female Flame Off 2009

Trinity Glassworks, Dallas, TX. October 17th- 19th. Thanks to all who supported and participated in another great event. Thanks Roze! We all had a great time, and supported the Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. These girls (and guys in drag) did a wonderful job! The mystery box theme was picked out of a hat from phrases chosen by the participants. This year's theme was "In the Garden"

Single-Petaled Nigella Square Beads

This single-petaled nigella is called “Blue Istanbul” in Japan. I visited the old city last month. I don't know nigella came from Turkey. But the deep blue flower reminds me of blue tiles of mosque in Istanbul.

Nova

This piece is called a Nova, which means new star. It has over 300 peices, all fumed with gold and silver. The pieces are attached to a metal center core with wire. This piece took me about two weeks to build. I haven't added a light to the middle yet but I may add one in the future. I had to build a special crate to move this thing in. The whole project has been a lot of fun. Thanks to Lee for pushing me in new directions.

Misc. skulls III

Some random skulls by Jonathan Paul Bennett.A white tail buck skull and horn lay upon a large 8 pound chunk of glass textured as a fern fossil rock. This was a custom order for a friend for a gift for his father. I really enjoyed this sculpture for my father is a whitetail buck hunter in NE Pa. as well. The 6 point buck skull and horns have a 1 ft wide spread and height. The glass fern fossil rock is soft glass but the sculptures are boro. I threw in three more skull spine sculptures. One aurora, onyx, and butterscotch. Enjoy and thanks for looking.
