Artist Statement -- How do we create meaning? How do we construct seemingly discordant and often irrational ideas about the world, yet over and over again justify these ideas to our family, our friends, and ourselves? I have always been fascinated with myth and its peculiar place between the individual and reality. Long before science and the Age of Reason, long before Modernism, myth served a vital function in everyday life. Lending strange irrational explanations to the world and its' beginnings; providing models and examples of how to live and interact with the world through the use of stories and narratives. I want my work to have this mythic quality. To tell stories, to carry meanings, and to ask questions.
