Another piece from me and Troy Bennett.. This one started last time we got together in KC, and sat waiting for the right time to get finished. This one features a large sculpted piece of boro with a bolt penetrating the hole in the middle.. The piece has been wrapped in copper wire and electroformed. The bolt and part of the fossilized teeth have been electroformed as well. A black brown patina was used to give a prehistoric feeling to the piece.. This is one more piece that is definately a push from the norm for both Troy and myself. ........ 9 1/4" tall and a little over 5 1/2" tooth to tooth.

This piece is #3 in a series that Troy Bennett and I are working on..I have to say in a lot of ways this ones my favorite yet.. Troy managed to pack a bunch of gold fumed dots in this one... This coldworked paperweight features a dynamic fumed organic flower on the inside, with a ton of detail and color. The dome shape accents the amazing flower shape inside, and the window cut reveals layers of blues, greens, ambers and reds. The outside has been heavily textured giving this piece a freshly dug up look.. The base has a small window into the bottom giving it an incredible look when held against a light, also a side view of the flower. This larger weight measures in at 3.5" tall and 2.25" wide.. Thanks for looking

This piece is an abstract sculpted fern that has been sandblasted, electroformed, and oil painted. The back panel of the piece is a leaf print painting, using acrylic and organic mixed media. I focused on leaf relief and printing techniques towards the end of my senior year at scad, its good to go back to the canvas...Ive been wanting to push my work off of the table and onto the wall, and Im excited to see where this series ends up..Thanks to Luken, Mickelson and Fero for the inspiration.

Boro weight with "Accucolor" dichroic glass center - which is a boro float lense. Great stuff. Dichroic courtesy of Fred Rossi - Infinite Optics. Glass Alchemy frit on outside. Coldworked and polished. Measures 1.5"

This is a larger "specimin" version of the amonite pendants that i have made in the past. The face of the piece has been ground and polished to reveal the fossil like inside. The inside has bands of irridescent fumed frit, and blue gold splintered dichroic glass running underneath. The beveled edge gives this piece a lot of depth when viewed at different angles. The backside has been heavily textured, with frit and fumes, to mimick a unearthed fossil. it measures 3.25" tall and 2.45" wide ....Thanks for looking...

Been having alot of fun colaborating with Troy Bennett from Whoopzip. Many layers of frit and 3 stacked opals surrounded by organic swirls of cobalt and amber, are revealed through the window in front. The ouside has a very organic texture.. The effect of the stacked opals gives this piece alot of depth, which is hard to capture in the photographs... Thanks for looking...

This unique, experimental series started a few years back conceptually, in the beginning days of KBglassworks.. We were set up at a local craft show in Edgewood, New Mexico. The woman next to us told us of her father who happened to be the retired head scientist/lampworker from Los Alamos National Laboratories. . No longer using his torch, his daughter offered some of the old tools, glass, and color from her fathers old shop. Most of the random finds we came upon consisted of scratched clear, colored boro from the 50's/60's,random tools and a small envelope that has lead me to this extremely rare and limited Area 51 mystery series. The old weathered envelope was addressed to the head scientist from McDonald Douglas Astronautics department. Inside the envelope was a small 1" X 2" metallic like sheet of mystery foil. After talking to Henry from Glass Alchemy we are speculating that it is a platinum sheet, but i like to believe that it is a piece of foil like rememinance from the crash site at area 51

One more from the last time Troy Bennett and I got together. This one features a carved and electroformed raked relief on the back. The large cut face reveals a pear shaped gilson opal set over intricate fumed patterning. When held to a light, or put on a light base this one really glows...approx 3".

This paperweight looks and feels like it fell from space. Frits and powders were used to create the many layers of yellow, blue, red , and organic tan. The piece was coldworked to reveal the blooming space lotus on the inside. The lotus style implosion holds a large white pear shaped gilson opal in the center. The outside has been coldworked to a smooth finish and then electroformed with copper. The heavily textured copper ranges in color from metallic red to a shimmering blue. This piece measures 2.25"

This is a re-make of the first carved and electroformed weight I made. I learned a lot with the first one about agressive dremmeling, and annealing, this one went off with no problems. GA frit and rod, CBS dichro, coldworked, and electroformed copper. measures 1.9". Thanks for looking...

This is a new direction in the ever changing collaboration work between myself and Troy Bennett. This piece has two dichroic galaxys in the center of the pedestal. The surface has been treated with metals and foils, then electroformed with fossilized megalodon and sharks teeth inclusions that are 10-20 million years old. This was the second piece to come out of the newest series, with freeform sculpture and organic mixed media as the focus. This piece measures

The first step was to make a blank by fusing 1" black boro rods together to make a flat tile.. After the tile was formed it was cut, rounded off on the belt sander, and sandblasted with a scarab image on the front.. Flameworked boro beetles were made and added along with with frit, opal, lusters, gold, and silver. An experimental silver transfer was added to the back before the second firing.. After moving to the annealer and cooled the piece was shaped by sandcarving around the edges to give it a weathered look .. All in all this was a fun project to make with good friends in the new shop.. Cant wait to make more and see where this all ends up... Thanks for looking...

A pattern of arrows has been electroformed on the outside, giving this geode a midieval feel. The copper has an aged patina makinig it look like an ancient relic... piece measures 2"

Testing out a grey/ black backgound for taking pictures.. still have a little tweaking to do.. This is a request from a customer for another opal eye geode weight.. I changed this one up a bit and used some different colors.. the dichro is hidden in the background and pops from certian angles. There is a pear shaped gilson opal in the middle of a fumed lotus.. the layers of color include blue moon, ns yellow, and a mix of frits and fume for the outside....

This is a piece I made a few months back.. The base is a solid purple luster and the starfish is made with a combination of silver strike 5, cobalt, purple luster, blue passon and amazon bronze frit. The base has milli anenome clusters, and has been "painted" with a hand torch to give it a lustery sea foam look.. This is a large base of solid color, and was one of the largest and hottest pieces Ive done so far.. The piece measures 7" wide and is 5" tall by 4" deep. Thanks for looking.

This is my favorite one yet.. The most recent in the series of collaborative work between myself and Troy Bennett. This coldworked paperweight features a heavily textured rock like solid with a natural looking cut crystal face. The hand faceted front opens up layers of powdered glass, and reveals a multiple layer gold fumed and cobalt implosion. In the center of the piece is a large irridescent white gilson opal floating right above the implosion. The organic looking facet cuts through the texture, revealing circular patterns around the perimiter of the face. This piece measures 2.42" x 3.1"

here are a couple of marbles made with trillium white.. this seems to be a nice stable bright white. Turns a butter yellow when hot and cools to a vibrant white..can bubble, but works nice when hot.. easy to mix down with other colors.. so far i succesfully mixed a nice sky blue by mixing down with ga brilliant blue.it does thin down, but less than most whites...the marbles have been alive for about 3 days, so far no compatability issues.. i only got a few pieces but ill try to do some more experimenting..

Tight spirals and reversals along with electroforming and cold-working make this piece truly unique....
Troy A. Bemett created the solid spiral inside while Andrew Brown coldworked, polished and copper electroformed the outside.
Measures 2.5" x 1.9"
A piece for the true collector. Stay tuned for more combo pieces by Troy & Andrew.

This oval shaped geode features a fumed uranium honeycomb, with a brilliant white opal in the center. The curved window reveals layers of blues, ambers, and yellows. Behind the honecomb is a layer of green gold, and red dichroic glass. The outside has a natural texture, that has been fumed with gold for a metalic effect. The piece measures 2.9"w x 1.5"h. The blacklight glow is hard to capture in a photograph, still working on that. Thanks for looking...

Your work is truly inspiring. It's so beautiful. So often it seems that a lot of the work glassblowers produce leans more towards craft, but this is real art to me. i love it! keep it up -Peter
