Make a shadow marble, the basic technique.
The description is based on coe 104 glass however I have made a couple shadow marbles with boro.

I made first shadow marble in 1995. The first hint of something interesting was when I was making a white ribbon marble, instead of twisting the gather one or two times I got carried away and kept twisting and liked what I saw. I figured out that if I twisted a solid core with outer ribbons the effect was a lot better. Since then I have been tweaking the technique.

A. Make a cylinder of clear or some other transparent color.

B. add a color layer, darker colors work best.

C. lay down a layer of clear.

D. Add three equally placed lines of white and melt them flat.
1. Add another layer or two of clear.

E. Heat the end into a cone shape and remove enough glass so that all the colors are cased in clear. Repeat with the other end.

F. Get the gather relatively round and punty up at the poles.
