Elio Quarisa and George Kennard at Corning putting together a giant candelabra in the hot shop. The energy was intense and the foot and cup cracked, so they lost this one. However after lunch George started an entire new matching piece without Elio and succesfully got it into the annealer with the help of students in the the workshop. You had to be there to really gauge the size of this monstrosity!!! Amazing! Enjoy the pics. Steve Gelb
Elio is a mistro defined.
I had the plesure of watching/video him at CGE in 2004. Two days of cane demos. He did some of the largest and tightest pulls that I have ever seene. Some of his skills are as good as it gets.

Well........
It was my second time back visiting Corning in November last year, this time I was with Charles Lowrie on a mission to tear it up in the east coast glass scene. So I was like I want to see the torch studio I used to work in, Buttermilk Falls "imagine that", we stopped by Buttermilk falls one night, but nobody was there, so we went up to upper campus and got trashed. Sorry we missed ya, I would have liked to seen what the shop looks like these days, and I've tried to visit twice in the last 2 years, but no luck. I guess it isn't how it was, and people aren't still working (at) 11p.m. lol I was on limited time because I had to be in the hotshop during the day.
One of these times I'll try to visit with George if I ever get back to Corning.
