A project finished

A project finished

This one was in the making for quite sometime, we definately pushed our boundaries with this one. It was a special request for a special customer, he requested a clear urn with a top, and some sort of sea life scenery around the urn. Lots of turtles, a few fish and coral. It's about 10 inches in diameter and stands 9 inches tall. I can't believe we pulled it off!! Thanks for looking....

Momka's new colors

Momka's new colors

I made this using Momka's new Gypsea Queen and brown sparkle. Really sweet colors!! Here's my input on the new colors, thanks Momka!!

Gypsea Queen: I really love these pre-pulled mixed colors. All the colors are very smooth, and when worked in the right flame atmosphere there are no bubbles at all. They will bubble at higher temps, but if you take your time it's smooth as butter.

Brown Sparkle: I love sparkles, and this one is right up there. Lots of sparkle and no cracking issues at all so far. Very smooth, and the brown becomes more translucent when pulled into smaller stringers, which can definately be used to your advantage. Another great color!!

More Momka!

More Momka!

I got around to playing with Momka's new Green Dragon yesterday, thought I would share the marble I made. Green Dragon rocks!! It's a green shimmer that really reminds me of OG moss. And so far I haven't had any cracking issues. Really smooth and no bubbles. For this marble I used the Green Dragon, Gypsea Queen and Brown sparkle highlights. Thanks again Momka!!

New Momka Colors!!!

New Momka Colors!!!

I made this yesterday with some more colors I received from Momka and her color testing program. The colors I received are Almond Nugget, Cinnabar, and Green Envy.

In this flower the I've used the Almond Nugget with Brown Sparkle for the outside of the flower and I've also used Aqua with the brown sparkle for the center. The Aqua is not one of her colors, unfortunately I don't have too many of her colors so I had to improvise. On the backside I used the Almond Nugget again with Cinnabar and Green Dragon.

Now the Almond Nugget and Cinnabar are the two new colors I received most recently. I really like the Almond Nugget, it's a really nice light light brown, and it's capable of producing some purple hues. The color is smooth and really likes oxidizing flames. The Cinnabar seems to be a self striking ruby, but it's not a transparent, and it can also strike more in the kiln. It turns some really nice reds, as you can see, and I like the fact that you can get some different hues if you want. The Green Dragon and Brown Sparkle and some colors I received from the first batch of test colors, and I also liked these alot too. If you missed my review of these two colors please feel free to email me for any info.

I have one more color called Green Envy which I've tried out, I'm hoping to test it some more today. It's seems to be in the luster family, starts out transparent green, but once it cools and you reheat you can get some light blues and dark green hues. I think I'm really gonna like this color. And the Cinnabar is going to be a definate new addition to my color pallette! Thanks Momka!

Snowdrops

Snowdrops

I was in the woods cutting up trees for our firewood in the shop this past weekend when I stumbled upon a bunch of these white flowers. It was the first time I've ever witnessed them, and I fell in love with them. With a little research I've learned that they grow wild and are one of the first to bloom in our area. They even grow with snow still on the ground! Needless to say, I had to try one out, and I thought I would share.

Yellow Pansy, thanks Momka!!!

This is a yellow pansy I made using Momka's Sunshine yellow. I recently purchased a sample pack and have learned that Momka's crayons are simply the best out there. No bubbles, no boiling. Thanks Momka for making such easy working crayon colors. Hope you come out with some more soon!!!

Much Thanks
Hey thanks for the comment on my encalmo vase, I have been working hard to perfect my techniques, and it's finally starting to pay off! You have a nice gallery here, your shop is rad! I wish we had a fireplace in our shop, we just wear a ton of clothes in the winter. I love the marble cube! cool idea. the frog and flower marbs are super sick as well. Pretty cool that we have such a great place to show all our stuff, between blowing, photographing, and labeling-describing, it seems like i'm on the site nonstop! Thanks again and keep up the good work....
