Just in time for the fourth of July! The colors on this one struck a little more patriotic than I was thinking, but who doesn't love a good fireworks display? The center of the piece features a gold and silver implosion with a large gilson opal resting in the middle. Layers of Blue Passion, Ruby 4, and Purple Luster powder have been built up with gold fume under Dark plum for the final layer. Multiple frits and powders were used to texture the back giving the piece an organic and metallic feel. After cutting and polishing the face to reveal the center, the piece was carved on a diamond wheel to reveal layers of color, while creating a firework-like star pattern. The carving also peels back the final layer of plum and gold fume giving it a reflective golden shimmer. The piece measures approx. 2.5" inches in diameter. Thanks for looking.
