allerton castle restoration 2006-2007

allerton castle restoration 2006-2007

Works carried out on allerton castle, north yorkshire, england.

The original windows were destroyed along with a significant part of the castle during a fire in 2005.By all accounts the heat of the fire melted the solder joints and then the panels were 'sucked' into the inferno.Following this the floor above and roof came crashing down ,so there really hasnt been much original material left to work with.Ive had to rely heavily on photographic records to reproduce the windows

howroyde hall restoration

howroyde hall restoration

howroyde hall,barkisland,w.yorkshire.
These are a few examples of the restoration work carried out on 18 panels at howroyde hall. The panels needed to be releaded as the lead matrix had disintigrated and they were only held together with various layers of old putty and paint.Where possible the glass was edge bonded and the rest were re-artworked.The date on the panels is 1641 which is in keeping with the recorded date of the building i.e. 1642
