Kaleidoscopic mandalas

(Focal Beads)

Kaleidoscopic mandalas Here are two different types of mandalas. They all start out as regular beads with large holes, but some have been flat fused. I had an accident while I was attempting to fire polish them so the insides would be nice, and ended up having to fully fuse them. I was so excited when I flash vented the kiln, I could hardly bear to close it up! The next batch I tried I over cooked, so who knows if I'll be brave enough to try again!

This one somehow ended up as a lucky charm in my purse! The hole totally closed up. I love the way the plunging shows up.

The edges of this devitrified slightly, especially in the pink bits. Look at how nicely those plunged bubbles stayed. The hole is nice and smooth. I bailed it on sterling silver, and put it up for sale on etsy.

I went a little wild with the colors here. The hole in this one is just big enough for a silver bail.

Well, this one isn't as showy, but it still turned out pretty well.

And another that hasn't been fused.
