There are many rituals around the world in various religions which are concerned with the spiritual properties of smoke. None more well-known internationally (mainly through old western movies) than the north american native ceremony of "smoking the peace pipe". I am aware it's a pipe
but as I'm dealing with ceremonial objects and ritual space at the moment, it was unavoidable that I'd end up making one as part of my exploration of the tools used by traditional medicine people. Please bear with me on this and if the sight of a ceremonial pipe offends you, please look away.
