(Honeycomb Marbles)

Demo at Demoss Studio - Idaho I spent a really nice weekend at Jesse Demoss's place in Idaho. Everyone had a really good time hanging out and my day long demo went REALLY well. I could not have been happier with pieces that were made during th demo. Thanks Jesse, Shelly, Bob. I hope to make it back some day.

Thank you for taking the time to check out this gallery. I spent my childhood in Grand Haven, Michigan. Shortly after earning a BA in film and video production from Grand Valley State University I realized that there was no way I was going to be able to express myself as an individual in the all consuming world of film. A desire to escape the influences of city life led my wife and I to the Blue Ridge Mountains of southern Virginia. Fortunately the art of lamworked glass found me. Over the past 7 years I have spent many hours trying to decifer the language of glass, figuring out why glass appeals to me, and how I can make it my own. I feel blessed to be working in such a limitless medium and hope to continue to do so for many years. I hope you like my creations. Blessings, Kenan

The back of the marble that "blew up" after striking in the kiln looked a lot like the back of the other marble pictured before it was struck. The honeycomb vortex element of the "struck" marble had a little bit of the "silver fingers" in the center of the design and the rest of the design was pretty much just a gold honeycombed pattern. There was very little silver showing from being flame struck. The marble spent 2 days in the kiln at my house and the 3rd at jesse's is when it "struck hard".
It would be great if Jesse and Shelly were able to host a weekend with different artists every year. This part of Idaho is an amazing area and Jesse has a nice shop. There is a lot of potential for future events and it seems to me that Jesse and Shelly have the structured "mind set" to be able to pull this off again. Not mention, Bob makes a great shop mascot.

Nice shots
Hey Kenan,

How is it going man? I just now came across these shots, I'm not sure how I missed them. They look great though. Hope you are raging with your glass. I'm pretty busy here, but that is the best thing I suppose. Hopefully I'll catch you at AGI.
