(Fused / Slumped / Kiln Formed Glass Art)

2007 - 07 "Making the "Beetle" The first step was to make a blank by fusing 1" black boro rods together to make a flat tile.. After the tile was formed it was cut, rounded off on the belt sander, and sandblasted with a scarab image on the front.. Flameworked boro beetles were made and added along with with frit, opal, lusters, gold, and silver. An experimental silver transfer was added to the back before the second firing..
After moving to the annealer and cooled the piece was shaped by sandcarving around the edges to give it a weathered look ..
All in all this was a fun project to make with good friends in the new shop.. Cant wait to make more and see where this all ends up... Thanks for looking...
