Collaboration between myself and my father. He turned the top and bottom of the Goblet and I made the beads. This was made for an exhibit specifically for woodturners and glass beadmakers. Beads are Gaia, Ivory, Brown & Clear glass and the wood is Cherry.

those are gorgeous
I used to love working with my father, who was a scientific flameworker. His skill was consumate and I was and still am so in awe of his way of working, it almost defies comprehension. We'd sit opposite each other and do our respective work and often we'd sneak looks at what each other was doing (which always was so different) and occasionally we'd catch ourselves looking at each other watching each other (does that even make sense?). The thing I didn't realise until shortly before his death was that he was so in awe of what I was doing, too. He'd said to me "what you're doing, I couldn't even begin to imagine!" ... coming from a master of perfection, a man who was in many ways not very expressive, who was also my father, that was the best thing anyone ever said to me. Having something like that to share with a parent is the best thing ever, I think, and I count myself very lucky! I'm looking forward to more collaborations with you and your dad ... these ones are just awesome! cheers Chris
