Hollow Studded Boro Bead

Hollow Studded Boro Bead

Posted by TokensGlass on 5/31/2007
This bead was created using Momka's Infinity II, Brilliant Blue, and Unobtanium. Made with a tube and kiln annealed. Fun to make, but hard to get both sides symmetrical. I'll keep trying and post more of these. I like this style with or with out studs. The holes are about 9mm in diameter. This hollow is about an inch wide and an inch long. Pretty good size for a slider necklace.

I am a Lampworker in Richmond, Va. I really enjoy making Boro pendant and bead sets. I am a disabled student. In 2000 I was diagnose with Kidney Failure. This medium is perfect for me since it doesn't require hard labor and I may sit while creating pieces of art. In the fall I will be attending my first lampworking class, it will be taught by Emilio Santini. I am very excited. Being completely self taught I feel that I may have missed some of the more basic techniques, so I'm taking his beginner class and going on to intermediate then advanced over the next few semesters. I want to learn all there is to know about glass lampworking. I started out making pipes, but went to the more acceptable focus of beads and sculpture. (I live in the commonwealth:(. The police around here are really harsh on pipemakers. It is a shame, it is such a fun and gratifying not to mention profitable aspect of glass art. If I actually sit back and reflect I'd rather be known for my bead work and my new passion MARBLES!. I love making the creature beads and free form pendants. I just started making Boro mandrel bead sets and will be posting them soon. Thank yo very much for looking at my gallery. I respect what all of you are doing, glass art is an honorable craft. So many of you are skilled and extremely creative, I like that there is a place we can all come together and share our art and vision. Flame On!
